Facilities: The Pavo Real Pool is a state of the art facility (10 lane 50Mx25Y pool). 9 lanes will be used for a PRE-SEEDED timed-final leaving a lane for warmup/cool down. Colorado 6000 electronic timing and Hy-Tek Meet Manager 6 will be used. Starting blocks, non-turbulent lane lines and turn flags are in place. The minimum water depth, measured in accordance with the 2014 USA Swimming Rules and Regulations, Article 103.2.3 is 13 feet, 0 inches at the start end and 4 feet, 0 inches at the turn end. The competition course has not been certified in accordance with Article 104.2.2C(4). Separate dressing rooms, showers and lavatories for men and women. The use of audio or visual recording devices, including a cell phone, is not permitted in changing areas, rest rooms or locker rooms in accordance with Article 305.3. Changing into or out of swimsuits other than in locker rooms or other designated areas is prohibited in accordance with Article 202.4.9I. Limited seating on deck of the pool. Concessions with food and drink will be available.
Directions: Directions to the pool using I-10 from the West:
Take I-10 East to (Exit 34A) to Texas 375 Loop N, then merge onto TX-375 Loop S
Exit Alameda/Socorro Road Merge onto North Americas Ave. Turn right onto Alameda Ave. Travel 0.7 miles, Turn right on Presa Place the pool will be on the right.
Liability: It is understood and agreed that USA Swimming, Border Swimming, Inc., the City of El Paso, Desert Sharks Swim Club, and any sponsors shall be free and held harmless from any liabilities or claims for damages arising by reason of injuries to anyone during the conduct of the event in accordance with USA Swimming, Inc., Rules and Regulations.

Rules: Unless otherwise noted herein, this meet shall be conducted in accordance with the 2016 USA Swimming Rules and Regulations. The USA whistle start and no recall procedure will be used throughout the meet. Coaches and officials will be required to display their 2016 registration cards.
Any swimmer entered in the meet must be certified by a USA Swimming member-coach as being proficient in performing a racing start or must start each race from within the water. When unaccompanied by a member-coach, it is the responsibility of the swimmer or the swimmer’s legal guardian to ensure compliance with this requirement.
All participants, athletes and non-athletes, must adhere to the USA Swimming Code of Conduct as described in Article 304 of the USA Swimming Rules and Regulations.
Meet Eligibility/Proof Of Registration:
This meet is open to all currently registered USA Swimming and FINA registered members. The attached membership certification affidavit must be submitted with each team's entries. No swimmer will be permitted to compete unless the swimmer is a member as provided in Article
302. No on-deck registration. The swimmer's age as of June 23, 2016, will be used to determine the age group for competition.
Events: Swimmers will be restricted to 10 individual events (2/Thur, 3/Fri, 2/Sat, 4/Sun.) and 2 relays. Times may be submitted using long course meters (LC) or short course yards (SY) . Look over events for timed breaks. None others will be added. Teams wishing to enter the Family Relay on Saturday will need to pick up an entry card and return it completed to the administration table by the conclusion of Event 32 on Sunday morning.
Time Standards/Verification:
Some events require a minimum time standard for entry. Time standards are included in the TM file. Swimmers entered into events with times outside of the standards will be removed from the event and will forfeit their event entry fee.
Event Seeding:
This is a PRE-SEEDED timed-final long course, age group meet. A “B” time is required for the 200 meter freestyle event. A “BB” time is required for the 200 meters (fly, back, breast, and IM) and any event 400 meters or longer. For this meet, the seeding order will long course meters (LC) then short course yards (SY) All events will be swimming fast to slow. Events 1-2, 51-52 Open age groups will be combined for competition and then separated for results. The age groups 9 & Over. 11 & Over, 12 & Under and 13 & Over will be combined for competition and then separated for results.
Positive check-in is required for events 400 and longer which will swim alternating heats of girls/ boys fast to slow, 30 minutes prior to the start of the session and will be deck seeded.
Relays: Each team is asked to pre-enter relays teams and will be permitted to modify order, scratch, or add additional relays on deck. Relay events 9-10 on Friday allows any age can swim any relay. All relays will be deck seeded, timed final events

Late Entries: DECK ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED UNTIL 30 MINUTES BEFORE THE START OF EACH SESSION. EXTRA HEATS WILL NOT BE CREATED AND USA PROOF OF TIMES MUST BE
PROVIDED. Late entries will be $9.00 per event. All swimmers who decks enter will be required to show proof of current USA Swimming or FINA registration. There will be no on-deck USA Swimming Registration.

All entry fee balances are due before the meet is over, unless prior arrangements have been made!
Refunds: Once a team or individual entry has been received and processed, there will be no refunds in full or in part.
Age Groups: The age groups for this meet will be 10 Under, 11-12, 13-14, 15 Over.

*Ties for high point will be broken using the Hy-Tek Age Group Point System for 14 and under and FINA point system for 15 and over.
Timers and Lap Counters:
Swimmers competing in the 800 free must provide their own timers and lap counters. Swimmers in the 400 meter freestyle on Saturday, June 25, 2016 will also provide their own timers.
Meetings: There will be an officials meeting 30 minutes before the start of each session and a coaches meeting 15 minutes before the start of each session.
Special Notice:
The Meet Director reserves the right to modify sessions, warm-up/start times, based on final entries received and at other times as may become necessary.
Warm-ups: Border Swimming mandatory warm-up procedures will be enforced. A USA-Swimming/FINA registered coach for each swim team must be present to conduct their team’s warm-up sessions. Warm-up lane assignments will be posted at the pool behind the starting blocks.
1. General warm up (initial period)
a. All lanes to be used for general warm-up. Circle swimming only.
b. Swimmers must enter the pool feet first. NO DIVING or JUMPING allowed from the blocks or the edge of the pool.
c. No sprinting or pace work allowed during general warm up session.
2. Coach Responsibilities
a. Coaches shall instruct their swimmers regarding these safety guidelines and warm up procedures as they apply to conduct at meets and practices.
b. Coaches shall supervise and be responsible for the conduct of their swimmers throughout the meet, including the warm-up session.
• All meet warm ups shall be scheduled for two 30 minute sessions. Teams shall be assigned a warm up session and notified of such session by the meet director. When the number of swimmers does not warrant splitting the sessions, one warm up session may be held.
• The first twenty (20) minutes of each session shall be designated as a GENERAL WARM UP SESSION. There shall be FEET FIRST ENTRIES ONLY AND AT ALL TIMES during the general warm up session. Lanes may be used for pace, circle, or return swim only. Swimmers shall not mount the starting blocks at any time.
• During the last TEN (10) minutes of each warm up session sprint lanes shall be open as follows: the lane you have been assigned for warm-up will be your sprint return lane. Before using sprint lanes, they must be cleared of all swimmers. There will be NO DIVING at any time. RACING STARTS ONLY will be allowed at the start end, but the swimmers swim back in return lanes.
• Warm up and warm down lane will operate under the same rules and regulations as general warm up lanes, with the exception that a maximum of 10 swimmers will be allowed in the warm-up/down lane at any one time. Coaches will be responsible for informing their swimmers of this requirement. Diving and racing starts (backstroke included) are NOT permitted in the warm up/warm down lane.
Family Relay: For many years, DSSC has conducted a “fun” relay at the end of our Saturday morning session. This relay is composed of any 4 people and is conducted in the spirit of families/friends having the opportunity to design/enter a relay team. The race is 200 meters necessitating each swimmer to swim 50 meters. Relay cards for these teams will be available from the administration table and must be turned in 30 minutes before the end of Session 4 (Saturday morning). We will return the card with heat and lane assignment. All teams are encouraged to let parents know about this special event.
