LASER: MINOR AMENDMENTS TO ACCESS DIPLOMA FORM (AV5)
Important Information from September 2014 onwards
Please note that student registrations onunits cannot be amended once they are submitted (within 12 weeks of course start) unless there are ‘exceptional’ circumstances. It will therefore NOT be possible to amend Access Diplomas in year. All minor amendments should be submitted before students are registered[1] and preferably before the end of the previous academic year.
Amendments to an Access to HE Diploma must be approved before the changes are initiated in the Course delivery, assessment and moderation. Please discuss the proposed amendments with the External Moderator and the Access Development Manager (ADM) to show that they approve the changes.A new Rules of Combination (AV3: AVROC) formmight be required and an AV5a Amendment to Access Unit Form will need to be appended to this form if unit content is to be changed. Once approved, the completed paperwork will be added to the paper and electronic copies of the Access Programme Recognition Document held by the AVA.

[1] Applications to amend an Access Diploma’s rules of combination within the first 12 weeks of the course, once students have been enrolled at the college, will require ‘exceptional’ circumstances and will be carefully scrutinised by the AVA and may not be accepted.
[2] Please note – amendments to an Access Diploma must fall within the scope and intention of the original validation document. Amendments which result in a change in the balance of units within the Diploma that would distort or change its title would need to be referred for further development. For further guidance please contact the LASER Access Development Manager.
