Happy Fall Y'all! By now, we have gotten through our September Color Festivals and are into fall cleanup. As much as we admire the beautiful leaves while they adorn our trees, the reality is, now they must be raked into piles to be discarded. Let loose and have some fun; jump into them with your kids or grandkids.
It is a long time ago now, but I am just catching up with Fleazaar ending. It is truly amazing that our little church and our generous community members can accomplish this huge undertaking. It is so heartwarming to think of all of the lives that will be touched and changed through those efforts. Reflect on that a moment and the pain of all the hard work will vanish.
Your Membership Committee decided to take the success of another Fleazaar as a reason to celebrate. So, to treat ourselves and all of the generous volunteers with a little down time, a great many of you enjoyed an all church "picnic" on the Sunday following Fleazaar. Due to the weather conditions on that weekend, our picnic was held indoors. However, we were thrilled to see the number of you that attended for one final meal of sloppy-joes and hot dogs with a lot of laughter, sharing Fleazaar stories, enthusiasm and warm hearts. We are beyond grateful for our membership family and extended family. We are already gearing up to do it all again.
The Membership Committee is in conversation regarding a 2017 Church Picnic. We decided that it will not be the weekend following Fleazaar. We would love to have a fun day together to worship, eat and play on a Sunday later in the summer. We would love to hear some thoughts on this idea, so please seek out myself or any other committee member for your comments. !
Our committee is also in the process of creating and printing a new church information booklet. The intention is to give our potential new members some guidance and a little insight as to who we are and how they can mesh with our Congregational Family. Please be warm and welcoming with any visitors you see attending our Service. We will let you know when the booklets are ready for distribution. Pastor Chips and myself are planning an Inquirer's Gathering following the worship service on October 9. If you know someone looking for a church home, please invite them.
Now, get to task on those leaves by fitting a good rake to your hands. Also, remember to enjoy those cute little giggling goblins as the month comes to a close.
Respectfully Submitted,

CHRISTMAS FOR KIDS
As I look out the window and just begin to see the leaves changing from brilliant green into the shades of autumn it seems too early to be thinking Christmas but Nancy and I have been busily working on getting the CHRISTMAS FOR KIDS project organized and ready to launch. The green CHRISTMAS FOR KIDS envelopes are in the pews just waiting for you to fill them with a generous heart and a check of course!!! We have met with the Coordinator from the school and have redesigned the “wish list” given to the parents and have seen the responses. We think, as shoppers, you will appreciate the changes as the forms are more specific as to items to purchase. The shopping information will be given out on Sunday, November 6th and you will have until Sunday, December 4th to shop for and return your gifts to the church. If you are unable to be in church on November 6th and would like to shop for a family, please contact Nancy or myself and we’ll set aside a family for you. As we did last year, we are partnering with the Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Manitowish Waters on this project. The need is great…the benefits are heavenly! Imagine the smiles on the children’s faces as they open gifts that they may have thought were not coming on Christmas!
Anticipate the JOY…Give generously!!

Food for Kidz
Volunteers are needed on October 22 at Lakeland High School, Minocqua, to package meals for hungry children.
There are two scheduled times....
8:00 to 10:00 A.M. and at 10:00 to 12:00 A.M.
Our featured Food Pantry, this month, is the Community Food Pantry in Boulder Junction, WI. The pantry began in 1998, when a contract was entered into with North East Wisconsin Community Action Program, to distribute food out of the Community Church's basement. It quickly outgrew its space, so an addition to the building was added.
The Pantry serves about 150 families, totaling around 300 clients per month. During the month, there is around 2709 pounds of food available for distribution.
The Pantry serves the Western half of Vilas County, and members from four area churches serve on its board. Funding comes from grants, but most funding comes from donations of individuals, churches, and businesses. There is no paid staff, and the Pantry is run by approximately 100 volunteers.
In addition, the Pantry funds the gym shoe program for AVW, Lac du Flambeau, and North Lakeland schools and on Thanksgiving, a dinner is provided, featuring a ham or turkey. At Christmas time, there is always something special,in addition to their regular distribution.
This is the third article on our local Food Pantries that MWCC supports, worthwhile causes indeed, We are truly blessed to be able to help people in need.
Thanks to each and everyone for your generosity and support.
Respectfully,
Joan Ouimette

WESTMINSTER GUILD
Westminster Guild met on Thursday, September 1, for our first Bible Study of the year. This year's study is entitled "Who Is Jesus? What a Difference a Lens Makes." In our first lesson we looked at Jesus through the lens of the Gospel according to Mark. In subsequent lessons we will learn about Jesus through the remaining three gospels, as well as through the Apostle Paul, the book of Hebrews, other early Christian writings, and from the viewpoint of the Jewish and Muslim faiths. Finally we will consider how Christians from a variety of cultural perspectives answer the question "Who is Jesus?" and we will try to answer for ourselves the question Jesus posed to Peter, "Who do you say that I am?". We are led in our study by Father Bill Radant, an Episcopal priest who is a veritable fount of knowledge and who genuinely enjoys helping us in our Bible studies. Please remember that all women of our congregation are most welcome at our Bible studies. Each of the nine lessons can stand on its own, so please join us whenever you can -- for Bible study on the first Thursday of each month as well as for our mission/work meeting on the third Thursday of each month.
In other business, the Guild has been updating our by-laws and funeral policy, making plans for a new stove (or stoves) to better meet our needs, especially with regard to the Fleazaar bake sale and lunches, field-testing a Bible study that is two years away from publication, and planning a COOKBOOK!!!! Consider this your FIRST nudge (of many) to be thinking of any of your favorite recipes which we will definitely want to include in our church cookbook. (Much more on this later.) Of course, at all of our meetings we enjoy lunch together (we each bring a bag lunch) and a wonderful dessert provided by our hostess of the day -- most recently Ann Jacobucci and Kathy Vogt.

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
We have our first couple of weeks of Youth Group behind us now. It is going great, we’re happy to be back.
We’re already planning our first Youth Sunday. It will be on October 30th. You’ll see kids singing, and performing other duties related to the worship service.
If you haven’t been in Chips’ Adult Ed class before - or if it’s been a while – plan on going. He is currently sharing some of Rob Bells videos, with discussion time after. There’s no preparation to do and all are welcome any time (1st and 3rd Sundays of the months).
In His service and yours,
Joan Dioszegi

Fall – A Season to Share
I just finished my “To-Do” list for the early fall, and I thought you might want to see how busy I am. Perhaps you can duplicate my ambition.
