PRESBYTERY AND PARISH STAFF - SABBATICAL/STUDY LEAVE
MINISTRIES COUNCIL
This scheme allows all members of staff upon completion of two years employment (including the Probationary year) to take two weeks paid annual sabbatical leave. The leave is to allow a staff member to develop further skills for the benefit of work they are or will be requested to undertake, and as such will be treated as paid leave. The details are as follows:
During the third year of employment and thereafter, staff may if they wish take two or more weeks’ leave to undertake some personal, professional or spiritual development. Consideration will be given to how the weeks are taken to fit in with any study leave requirements.
Weeks may be accumulated but no more than eight weeks may be taken during one year.
All applications must be cleared in writing and in advance with the Ministries Council as to the reason for the Sabbatical, with the Kirk Session/Management Group as to the timing of the Sabbatical and the Presbytery Clerk notified for his/her interest.
The Ministries Council cannot undertake any financial responsibility for courses taken, expenses involved during the Sabbatical, or in providing financial support for the congregation.

Therefore, in 2011, presbytery and parish staff after completion of five years service (ie in the sixth year) who have not drawn down any entitlement, may be entitled to up to £1,075 and eight weeks. Details of a study programme must be given in writing, with three months' notice, to Mrs Dorothy Davidson.
