Other Professional Experience: Owner, general contracting firm for 25 years; directed a job training program for disabled and disadvantaged citizens for five years; taught at the UW and Bellevue Community College; worked at Seattle Urban League in housing, workforce training and employment programs.

Community Service: Board member of Shoreline Chamber of Commerce;Seattle-King County Workforce Development Council; Shoreline Solar Project; WA State Peace Action; Seattle Indian Center and member of OPIEU 8.
Statement: Our families, small businesses, schools, and environment in the 32nd District are my priorities. I have met with you, listened to you, and worked on your behalf for economic development, food safety, clean air, funding community colleges and K-12, and for your increased access and input to all government decisions that affect your lives.
Research universities must be accountable for their use of tuition money - I stopped their bid to use tuition to speculate on company stock, and am working to end the financial exploitation of our students in higher education that saddles them with crushing debt.
I have led the effort to reform our state’s economic development programs to make them more helpful to local businesses and the jobs they create to strengthen our communities. I pledge to continue my work for tax reform to end old, unproductive tax exemptions, restore funding for education, social services and essential public works to benefit all of us, now and for the future.

Statement: I am opposed to a state income tax. The idea that the state does not take in enough money is not the answer, let’s be wise and frugal with the taxpayers money.
The most important issue facing the people today is the slow economy. Many have yet to realize the recovery, and time is not a luxury for most families. We need economic reform and soon. We need jobs, good jobs that pay a family wage. Government needs to work with business, including small business to make good jobs happen. If we have to change the rules to make good things happen, let’s do so.
We the People of Shoreline were right to voteno on prop 1.
Let’s make sure our focus is positive toward our veterans. They were there when we needed them, so let’s be there when they need us. Let’s make being a Vet something valuable again. The recent McCleary decision may be, in the silver lining, a positive thing. I think it allows us, We the People, to redefine what education is and how we are going to pay for it. It is time to make the citizens part of the solution. Thank you.
