Church constitutions
1. The name of the church
The church shall be South African Zion’s Salvation
The shortened version shall be SA ZION Amasalveshe
1.1 The colors of the church
The colors shall be green, white and leopard
The emblem shall be the salvation wheel, Angel’s wings and church holly cross
1.2 The sitting of the Head Office
The seat of the head office shall be at Eshowe unless decided otherwise by conference
2. Aims and objectives
SA Zion is a religious organization which by nature of its existence is concerned with spiritual aspect of individuals by preaching the Word of God.
2.1To preach the word of God to non believers and believers who have fallen weak
2.2To convert the non-believers, baptize them in the river, give membership certificates
2.3 To lay hands to the sick, bless Holy Water and allow God to finish the healing process
2.4 Visit the very sick at home to give Holy Communion and give them opportunities to pray.
2.5 To conduct marriages and conduct funerals
2.6 To build/own church buildings as a church
2.7 Hire administrators who would assist in the membership office, run day to day affairs of the church
2.8 Publish books to be sold at a price.
3 Development section
3.1 The church will be a Development Centre for local communities
3.2 Church volunteers will do door to door to find the destitute, weak and helpless
3.3 The very sick will be washed, cleaned and left with something to eat
3.4 To those who are on medication will be given their medication on time and families be taught how to care for the sick at their comfortable homes
3.5 Adopt government program Agricultutal education to individuals, other churches and communities to have gardens at their homes
3.6 Work closer with Department of Agriculture and Land Affairs to assist communities with Land to cultivate
3.7 Work closer with Amakhosi nezinduna around the Land Tenure and the related acts.
3.8 Acquire community gardens as a church from Amakhosi and the Department to assist with implements and irrigation schemes
3.9 Assist the needy children with school necessities
3.10 Able to raise donations for various programs for needy people.
4. Health and health lifestyles
4.1 The organization will not only attend to spiritual aspect of the church members but their health as well
4.2 All membership will be trained as healthcare workers (onompilo) to go house to house assisting people.
4.3 Raise funds/ donations to pay stipend to these volunteers
4.4 Organize local fun/walk run for members and communities to keep them healthy in good shape
4.5 Make them to run Isikhalanga every weekends to keep them healthy
4.6 Educate communities life skills including specific Hiv/Aids prevention strategies
4.7 Assist those who are on Anti retro viral program on timely taking of drugs and ongoing counseling
4.8 Train the trainer programme of volunteers
4.9 Acquire superior knowledge on the field of Hiv/Aids to abreast with knowledge by studying from other experts on the field
4.10 Conduct major events/ cultural days, world aids days and participate to any Government health programme
5 The Church as an Organization
5.1The church will be operating as an organization not based on the church leaders for existence.
5.3 It will be running automatically on its own
5.4 The organization will acquire buildings and movable and immovable properties
5.5 It will be able to make balance sheet and lend monies for building purposes
5.6 The income that will be accumulated will be for the church projects and not be redistributed to members
5.7 If member/members have certain expertise which could be necessary to enhance the church projects might be requested to render their expertise.
5.8 All income and property will remain the property of the church
6 The church as a distinct Body
6.3 The church will be independent of its members at all times
6.4 It will have its identity number which will be different from the leadership or membership
6.5 Any debt accumulated by the church will never affect membership or leadership
6.6 The properties of membership or leadership or its head bishop will be immuned from being attached by courts of law due to debt of the church
6.7 The properties and income will never be distributed among the members
7 Change of leadership
7.3 The organization will hold Elective Conference every three years to change the office bearers
7.4 The organization will continue to function even if the elective conference is running on the day
7.5 The Position of the chairperson will only be handed over to the new chairperson after a week post election at a first meeting of the new structure
7.6 The running of the organization will not be disturbed by the election conference
7.7 Members or leadership will have no rights in the property or other assets solely by virtue of being leadership
8 Powers of the Organization
8.1The organization will own properties in its name
8.3 It will be able to sue and be sued
8.4 It will raise funds through donations and fund raising in whatever means legally
8.5 The finances will be signed by chairperson, secretary, treasurer/ bishop.
8.6 For withdrawal or transactions, the two signatures of the above three will be sufficient
9 Organization structures and governance
9.1 Trust
The TRUST shall be the Highest Decision making Body in the Church life
The Trustee shall always be the founder Archbishop only.
The Trustee shall appoint the successor by Deed of appointment
The appointee must be from the house of Dinakubo geneology
9.3 There shall be a Board of Governors which will be composed as follows;
9.4 Archbishop
9.5 Chairperson
9.6 Deputy chairperson
9.7 Secretary
9.8 Deputy Secretary
9.9 Treasurer
9.10 Five (5) members
9.11 The Management Committee (Manco) will be composed by Chairperson, Secretary, treasurer and one other member
9.12 The duties of the management committee will be to see to the daily running of the church
9.13 The Manco will hire the administration staff and supervise the staff personnel
9.14 The function of the Board of Governors is to examine the incumbent pastors/persons to be promoted to the next level
9.15 The positions will be awarded to the deserving members as follows;
9.15.1 Bishop
9.15.2 Dean ( Mengameli)
9.15.3 Reverend
9.15.4 Umvangeli
9.15.5 Umshumayeli
9.15.6 Ugosa
9.15.7 Umkhokheli ngezigaba
9.15.8 Anybody to be promoted will be discussed at Board of Governors level and be ordained on behalf of the Board of Governors
9.15.9 Manco will present to the Board Of Governors of their recommendations of the incumbents
9.14.10 there will be a position of Church Manager/Chief Whip, who assist and direct the
affairs of the church.
10 Meetings and Quorums
10.1 There will be Annual General Meeting every year towards the financial year end
10.2 The secretary will issue a notice to this meeting 3months before the meeting, if it is an emergency meeting, notice must issued within seven(7) days
10.3 Manco will meet every month, on notice issued by the secretary seven days (7) before the meeting
10.4 The Board of Governors will meet every three (3) months. Notice and agenda will be issued seven days before the meeting
10.5 The Elective Conference will meet every three years. Notice and agenda will be issued three (3) months before the conference
10.6 The quorums; Manco 3 members present and Board of Governors 6 members present
10.7 All the minutes will be kept by the secretary and read at all meetings by
10.8 To try to reach decisions by consensus at all times.
10.9 Voting will be a show of hands
10.10 The Board of Governors or Manco can form sub -committee of which terms of reference will be specific and agreed by commissioning body
11 Membership, qualifications and terminations
11.1 The nature of the organization is voluntary. The membership fee shall be determined by MANCO and donations will be welcomed
11.2 Anybody without being screened will join the church, because the church is for everyone
11.3 Members must obey the rules, never to denigrate the church or its leaders
11.4 Anyone found to be in violation of the rules, will be called to Disciplinary Committee and his side be heard before dismissal should it warrants
11.5 Any decision can be appealed to the Board of Governors within 21 days
12 Organization and finances
12.1 The organization will raise monies or donations which will be kept in a recognized banking institutions
12.2 The Treasurer, the secretary, chairperson or bishop will have signing powers
12.3 Any two of the above signatures will render transaction regular
12.4 The financial year end of the organization shall be 31 March of every year
12.5 The book keeping will be done internally and be audited externally or independently
12.6 The organization can invest and borrow monies on its rights
12.7 The organization will keep a record of all assets on its name
12.8 Members may be re-imbursed for expenses incurred during the course of doing organizational work if funds permits
13 Annual general meeting
The annual general meeting must be held once every year towards the end of the financial year. At the meeting the organization must deal with the following agenda items:
13.1 Agree to an agenda items to be discussed in the meeting
13.2 Apologies
13.3 Confirmation of minutes for previous meeting
13.4 Chairman’s report
13.5 Treasurer’s report
13.6 Secretaries report
13.7 New business for discussion
14 Duties of office bearers
14.1 Chairperson/deputy chairperson
· Chairing the meetings
· Maintaining order to the meeting
· Custodian of the strategic plan for the organization
· Give speakers a chance in a meeting
· Decide on a meeting with the secretary
14.2 Secretary
· Issue invitation for meetings
· Take minutes of all meetings
· Write down important decisions taken at a meeting and keep a record
· Spokesperson for the organization
· Prepare organizational reports
· Chief fundraiser
· Signatory to all organizational transactions
· Keep a good record of all organization’s business
14.3 Treasurer
· Keep a record of all assets, movable and immovable
· Open bank account in a Legal Banking Institution
· Conduct Internal Audit
· Bookkeeping
· Report at AGM and Elective Conference
· Draw up an operational budget
15 Changing to the Constitutions
15.1 The constitution can be changed by a resolution taken at official meeting of this organization
15.2 The constitution must be agreed upon and passed by not less than two thirds of the memberswho are at Conference.
15.3 Members must vote at this meeting to change the constitution
15.4 Two thirds of the members shall be present at a meeting, i.e. 75% before a decision to change the constitution is taken
15.5 A written notice must go out not less than fourteen days (14) days before the meeting at which changes to the constitution are going to be proposed.
16 Dissolving the organizations
16.1 Under the severe circumstances, will the organization be dissolved
16.2 The Trustee will issue notice to the effect that the organization will closed down
16.3 The Board of Governors will meet to discuss the circumstances around this issue
16.4 The Board will issue a notice to all media and church branches
16.5 The branches will hold meetings in their local churches to discuss the matter.
16.6 Branches will be given first opportunity if fit to run independent churches in their local to do so
16.7 A meeting of all branches will be called to a one day Winding up Conference
16.8 If unanimous decisions is taken to wind off the organization up, all assets and properties will be donated to other churches with similar aims and objectives
16.9 All creditors and debtors will be taken care of, before properties and assets are disposed off.
16.10 The two thirds majority will be required to close the organization down. Members present at the meeting must vote to close down the organization
