YOUR NEW LIFE IN CHRIST

The Process of Salvation: Future

INTRODUCTION

Salvation future will be the final event in the process of your salvation!

Do you ever imagine what it will be like to live eternally in heaven with God? The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 2:9 "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him." In other words, heaven will be so great we cannot even begin to imagine the eternal wonders it holds for us. Today, we will explore four passages about salvation future: Ephesians 1:13-14, 1 Peter 1:3-9, 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18, and 1 Corinthians 15:50-57.

THE PROCESS OF SALVATION: FUTURE

Read Ephesians 1:13,14 We learned in an earlier study that you received the Holy Spirit at the moment of your salvation. This, once again, is salvation past. Did you notice the important truth of verse 14?

How is the Holy Spirit referred to here?

______

Whenever you purchase a house, you put down a deposit, which guarantees that you will pay the full amount due, to be paid at a future time when you take the house as your possession. What a striking illustration this is for salvation future! Jesus sent His ______as the down payment of our future inheritance - eternal life. Jesus will one day redeem His purchased possession (you!). And when He does, you will receive the totality of your salvation!

Turn to 1 Peter 1:3-9. Read carefully 1 Peter 1:3-5. Do these verses speak of your salvation past? Or your salvation future?

Salvation past Salvation future Both past and future Neither past nor future

The answer, of course, is that these verses refer both to that which Christ has already done for you (salvation past) and to that part of your salvation that is still in the future. As you read your Bible, you will find many passages of Scripture like this one. Be alert to the three aspects of salvation! Look at 1 Peter 1:6-9. Which of the three aspects of salvation do you see in these verses?

Salvation past Salvation future Salvation present All of these

Do you agree that "all of these" is the best answer? When Peter refers to your faith in Christ, whom you have never seen with your eyes, this refers to salvation past. It also refers to the trials you are going through now, which prove the genuineness of your faith. This relates to salvation present. And it further refers to a coming day when the testing of your faith will result in glory and honor. This relates to salvation future.

Read 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18

These verses tell us what is going to happen when Jesus comes again for His people. Can you list some of the things that will happen when Jesus returns?
