Digital Rock Story Telling: 1950’s The Early Rock Stars

Assessment Project Due Date – Thursday 9/30

In pairs you will research one of the following early rock and roll stars of the 1950s and create a digital media presentation (that includes pictures, music and podcasting) informing the class about the influence and important of these rock stars to rock history.

Below are the tasks you will need to complete in order to successfully create a digital presentation using Photo Story 3

Day 1 & 2 (In the computer Lab)

  1. Research information about your topic.

Find out:

Who is he?

Where is he from?

What were his hits songs?

What made him a rock and roll celebrity?

What else is important to know about him?

What happened to him after the 1950s?

Record all this information in your Rock Journal. Be sure to record where you find this information. Any information that you take from the internet must be properly on a works cited slide on your presentation. If you find any information on a website that you cut and paste that is considered PLAGARISM.

  1. Select photographs that offer a visual about your topic(choose 10-15 different pictures that offer a visual representation).
  1. Save these pictures from the internet in the “HaikenRock Write” folder on the student drive. *Make sure you use the full-size image for the best quality photo. Photos must be saved as a .jpg in order to upload on PhotoStory.

Day 3 (In the computer lab)

Using your research notes, write a script for your presentation using the storyboard worksheet distributed by your teacher. This storyboard worksheet will help you to organize your pictures and to draft what you want to say on the digital rock history project.

REMEMBER, this is not a power point presentation so there will be no words on the slides – only the title slide should have the name of your artist.

If you would like to make a collage of pictures for one or all of your slides, go to power point and design a collage on one power point slide. You should then save your power point slide when you are totally finished as a .jpg on the student drive (see your teacher to help you with this).

Days 4-7 will be in the classroom with the laptops to help you put all the information you have collected into the digital stories.
