UMH accepts applications from students who are studying at any of our Erasmus partner institutions, or institutions with a framework agreement, co-operation agreement or specific agreement for student exchange.

To apply, students need to be nominated by the Erasmus Co-ordinator or the competent authority in charge of the international student exchange programme at their home university/institution.

How do I apply?

Once nominated, and after we have been provided with contact details, we will email students directly and provide them with a PIN and all the other necessary information in order to successfully complete their applications through the UMH online incoming application platform (Mobility Online Application Account).

For your Application Form to be considered completed you will have to fill in all the required information fields and upload a colour copy of the following documents:

1.  Learning Agreement.

2.  Updated Transcript of Records;

3.  National Identity Card (EU citizens) or Passport (non-EU citizens or when ID card is not compulsory in an EU country);

4.  European Health Insurance Card (EU citizens) and/or evidence of private health insurance cover (optional - EU citizens; obligatory - non-EU citizens);

5.  Spanish Language Certificate (at least Level B1 DELE*) or equivalent certificate. Erasmus Co-ordinators or competent authorities of the home university/institution or Language Centre may authenticate the student’s ability in Spanish language;

6.  One colour photograph (3x4 cm) with a white background or a similar computer file image.

7.  Curriculum Vitae;

8.  Bachelor’s Degree Diploma and/or certification of present registration in Master’s course (only applicable to Master’s level students).

Once you have provided us with all necessary documents, duly authorized by the student’s Erasmus Co-ordinator and Institutional Co-ordinator, we will send the authorized Learning Agreement, together with the Letter of Acceptance, back to the International/Erasmus Office of the respective home university to be collected there by the student.

UNIVERSITY LIFE

Student Delegation

Every academic year UMH offers students a wide range of social events as well as leisure and cultural activities.

The Student Delegation helps to connect the different needs and interests of students with the University. It is represented in each of the Faculties of all campuses by the respective Delegation, which offers support to all students and keeps them up-to-date with the latest social and academic information about UMH life.

Buddy Programme

The International Relations Office runs the Buddy Programme which helps incoming international students integrate socially and academically in UMH.

Buddies are local students who help incoming international students before, during and after their arrival in their respective campuses.

Once the Letter of Acceptance is issued and before they arrive at UMH, all incoming international students will receive an email with details of their buddies who they should contact as soon as possible.

Club Erasmus Experience

The Club Erasmus Experience is organized and managed by a group of volunteer UMH students who want to create and maintain close links between UMH and its students, especially the ones studying within an international mobility programme.

Its mission is to ease the integration of incoming foreign students into academic and cultural university life, to organize social and cultural activities and to promote foreign students’ native cultures within the local university community: ; Facebook

VISAS

Important! Non-EU citizens must get their Visas or Residence Permits in their country of residence or home countries before their departure for Spain. Students must be sure about expiry dates, applications for extension deadlines and other relevant dates with the Spanish embassy or consulate.

ACCOMMODATION

UMH doesn’t have halls of residence or off-campus student accommodation. Instead there is a vast network of private accommodation near the university. More information about this network can be found on Programa Nido.

Programa Nido is a public database of private accommodation where owners publish voluntarily their properties so students can check availability near the campus. This on-line tool is public service-minded and aims to provide the university community with useful information in order to find accommodation according to its needs.

UMH has agreements with some private organizations which offer accommodation to the university community:

Because the province of Alicante is one of the most relevant tourist areas in Spain, especially its famous “Costa Blanca”, there is a vast number of accommodation possibilities and facilities on-line.

SPANISH COURSES

UMH offers 50 hours Intensive Spanish Language Courses 3 weeks before the start of each semester.

UMH also offers non-intensive Spanish and other languages courses during both semesters.

Advance registration on the language courses is on-line or by contacting us at .

WELCOME DAY

The International Relations Office organizes a Welcome Day in October for Semester 1 and another in March for Semester 2 so that incoming international students can meet and participate in events organized for them.

MEDICAL CARE

Students coming from within the European Union with access to the public health system in their home countries will be able to use their European Health Insurance Card. This card entitles students to any necessary healthcare during a temporary stay in any of the EU member states or in countries of the European Economic Area, at any outpatient department or health centre near their accommodation.

Students coming from a non-EU country must bring their own international medical insurance policy to cover their healthcare needs in Spain. Students should also bring an insurance company document detailing the extent of such cover.

Students coming from countries that have signed Bilateral Health Agreements with Spain should bring their corresponding documentation with them from their home country and apply to be assigned a Family Doctor at the health centre nearest to their accommodation.
