Reading Lesson: Following Directions / Grade Level: K
Lesson Summary: Students will learn to follow 3-5 step directions by reacting with physical activity. Students follow directions of the teacher to clap, hop, put hands on head, and then perform the same activity in a different order at the teacher’s direction. Students then progress to 3-5 step directions. Students follow PowerPoint to practice 3-5 step directions using icons as visual prompts. Advanced learners work together to give each other 3-5 step directions. Struggling learners work individually with the teacher, who gives them individual directions, then moving on to 2-3 step consecutive directions.
Lesson Objectives:
The students will know…
  • the basics of following 1- and 2-step verbal directions.
