CRITERIA

External Condition: All herbs must be free of dirt or other extraneous matter. They should show no visible bug damage, bruising, yellowing, tip burn, ice damage or decay of any kind. The ends should be fresh cut with minimal browning. All dead leaves should be removed from bunches. No evidence of seed stems.

Maturity/Condition: Mint should be young with a hearty aroma. There should be a high leaf to stem ratio with the leaves firmly attached to the stems. Cut stem ends should look fresh

Color:Dark greenin color with no yellowing.

Size:Each package of mint should weigh .75 oznet. All mint should be uniformly sized within the package.

PACKAGING:

Outer Case:Standard industry case which affords adequate protection to product, with the country of origin clearly marked. In addition, corresponding code number and sell by date must be affixed to the outer case

Pack Size:All packages should have the correct UPC attached, as well as the country of origin. Pack as determined by Market Area.

SOURCES:U.S., Mexico, Central America, South America or Israel.

PALLETIZATION:

All products must be received on a 40”x 48” GMA #1 hardwood pallets – CHEP preferred.

PRODUCT PRECOOLING:

Allherbsmust be pre-cooled and when appropriate gel packed to maintain cold temperatures prior to loading.

STORAGE/TRANSPORT TEMPERATURES:

Temp on dispatch and receipt:48-58degrees range.

Herbs are often delivered by Fed X, DHL, or cartage agents. After receipt store in a 38-43º cooler.

Temperature will be monitored periodically on all truck, air and cartage deliveries.

All deliveries may only contain food or food related commodities. At no time should chemicals or any other toxics be shipped with the delivery.

PRODUCT LIFE:

Product should give at least 11 days life upon receipt at the SUPERVALU, Inc.distribution facility.

IMPORTANT:

IF A FEDERAL INSPECTION IS REQUIRED FOR ANY REJECTED LOAD, IT WILL BE THE SHIPPERS RESPONSIBILITY TO CALL FOR THE FEDERAL INSPECTION. IN THE EVENT, THE DISPUTED LOT PASSES THE FEDERAL INSPECTION TO MEET THE ABOVE SEPCIFICATIONS, SUPERVALU AGREES TO ACCEPT THE DISPUTED LOT.

DETAILS ON THE SPECIFICATION MUST NOT BE CHANGED WITHOUT PRIOR WRITTEN AGREEMENT WITH THE SUPERVALU, INC. BUYING OFFICE.

AT NO TIME SHOULD ANY OF THE SUPERVALU, INC. PRODUCT OR PACKAGING SPECIFICATIONS BE DISCUSSED WITH ANY OF INDUSTRY PEOPLE UNLESS SO AUTHORIZED BY THE SUPERVALU’S PRODUCE BUYING OFFICE. FAILURE TO RESPECT THE CONFIDENTIAL NATURE OF THE PRODUCT OR PACKAGING WILL JEOPARDIZE YOUR POSITION AS A SUPERVALUSUPPLIER. ALL ORDERS PLACED BY THE BUYING OFFICE SHALL BE DELIVERED AS DETAILED.
