Role and Duties of Student Vice President

Student vice presidents serve many roles and fulfill many purposes within their chapters and within the Society. The main role of the student vice president is that of an ambassador for Phi Kappa Phi on their campus. They promote the Society whenever possible and encourage other students to learn more about Phi Kappa Phi, accept the invitation to join, and to get involved with their local chapter.

Student vice presidents should participate in chapter meetings and work closely with the faculty members at their institution in order to carry out the duties of the chapter. These duties include organizing meetings and/or events, promoting awards on campus, participating in community service as an organization, and promoting the Society in general. These duties can include web/social media master, assistant public relations officer, or service chair.

A student vice president can be an ambassador for their chapter by taking an active role in communicating with students on campus. This communication can take many forms, such as sending a “welcome back to school” email, writing to invited students encouraging them to join or reaching out to initiates to inquire of their interest in serving as a future student vice president.

Students can also servetheir chapter by working onor even developing their chapter’s own social media accounts. Some chapters use Facebook, Twitter, or other platforms to reach out to members, to post educationally-focused content and/or share pictures from chapter events. These accounts can be incorporated as a tool to raise chapter visibility, especially if the chapter does not have its own webpage hosted by their institution. Your chapter can communicate with Hannah Breaux, Communications Director at Phi Kappa Phi, at for assistance in developing relevant content.
