TOP VIOLINIST JULIAN JOINS MEDWAY TOWNS MUSIC CENTRE

Julian Milone, a member of London’s prestigious Philharmonia Orchestra, is joining the team at Medway Towns Music Centre this September.

The professional violinist, who lives in Rochester, will be looking after the String Department on Saturday mornings, directing the centre’s three string ensembles.

Julian Milone joined the first violin section of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra in 1979 and became a member of the Philharmonia Orchestra in London in 1983. He also plays in András Schiff's hand-picked chamber orchestra, the ‘Cappella Andrea Barca’, in violin ensemble concerts with his group ‘4 Violins & a Bass’. His compositions and arrangements have been performed by orchestras and groups throughout the world, including at the wedding of Prince Charles to Camilla Parker-Bowles, for which he arranged the music.

Medway Towns Music Centre manager Phill Hyde said: “Having a musician of this calibre and experience working at the already popular and successful centre is a huge bonus for the string faculty. Having worked with Julian on many occasions it is superb that he can share his skills with the centre every Saturday morning.”

Run by Kent Music, Medway Towns Music Centre, based at Fort Pitt Grammar School for Girls, in Fort Pitt Hill, Chatham, is the largest music centre in Kent and Medway, with more than 250 members of all ages, playing in more than 30 different ensembles. The autumn term starts on Saturday September 24. For details of how to join, visit www.kent-music.com.
