6. Commission Reports

  1. Worship –Training for lectors and eucharistic ministers to take place after Ministry

Fair. Ed Roney suggested that ushers hold a training session.

Men for Others sent out email requesting volunteers to become acolytes.

Security Committee instituted. Consists of retired firefighters and law

enforcement.

  1. Christian Service – see attached report.
  1. Education – 70 more religious ed. students this year than last year at same time.

Expect 900 or more student this year. All catechist positions filled.

Three new employees in Religious Ed. department.

New RCIA class has 4 students with possibility of 2 more.

Kids Word program started this past Sunday taking the place of

Children’s Liturgy.

  1. Finance - Collections for last fiscal year (ending June 2017) were $98, 705 more

than budgeted.

CSA about $30,000 short of goal.

Presentations by engineering firms Ehresmann and Niagara Murano held

over the summer. Estimate of $1.2 million by Ehresmann to replace faux

brick on church with full brick. Decision on selecting engineering firm to

take place at next Finance Committee meeting.

Fund raising committee formed led by Karen Cameron to develop fund

raising campaign to pay for brick replacement.

Repairs to flat roof on old building currently taking place. Insurance

claim will be filed to repair water damage inside building.

Soliciting bids to replace phone system (20 years old). Company

supporting/servicing system has filed for bankruptcy. Technology of

system out-of-date.

Sound system in parish hall has been fixed. Speakers in church will be

tweaked in attempt to gain better sound.

  1. Evangelization – Deacon Steve is revitalizing commission.

8. Ministry Fair

Oct. 7th and 8th (donut Sunday). Every commission to pass out handouts and have

representatives present to recruit volunteers.

9. Unleash the Gospel (Pastoral Letter from Archbishop Vigneron)

Msgr. John requested council members to read sections 1-3 (first 9 pages) for discussion

next meeting.
