1.  Background

JAGDAMBA POLYMERS PVT LIMITED, since more than 15 years has been in the business of Plastic Moulded Furniture and Household Products. Recently, it has ventured into PET PREFORMs also. The company enjoys high credibility among all stakeholders and is a well-known company in the area.

The products are marketed in the state of Odisha as well as in some other states, enjoying excellent brand reputation and value among the customers in the state of Odisha. The Brand “Ankur” is well established and a Top Brand. It has range of more than 200 products and is growing fast. The management considers huge growth potential for its products in domestic as well as in export market.

The company possesses most modern plant at Balasore, Odisha having several injection moulding machines ranging from 150 ton to 650 tons capacities with further planning of expansion.

Besides, Household and Furniture products, it also manufactures PET Preforms used for water and CSD manufactures. For this, a green field project has been set up with state of art plant & Machinery imported from world leader in this field. The company feels huge opportunity in PET packaging sector with scope in pharma and household sectors.

Location:

Balasore is a district headquarter with population of about 300,000. It is situated on Howrah Chennai mail rail line and on NH-5, about 230 Km from Kolkata from north and 200 Km from south. There are several large medium and small industries located here. The town has good education facilities for children. A medical college is also coming up in the city.

2.  Purpose

The company presently engages about 500-600 lorries and about 300-400 smaller vehicle goods carriers every year for transporting finished goods, i.e. household goods, moulded furniture, PET Preforms etc. to various locations, most of which are inside Odisha. Presently, the goods are delivered through hired lorries or booking through transport. It faces difficulties in placing lorries timely from the transport companies.

The company, generally, does not require to manage incoming lorries, except in few occasions.

Presently, we do not have formal logistics department. As we are increasing our marketing focus to Pan India, the dispatch volume is expected to grow significantly gradually. The trade demands timely and cost effective delivery.

It is therefore, felt that the company should own a dedicated Logistics department to handle dispatch of all goods either by owning of its own lorries or by hiring from transporters or logistic companies. The company presently does not own any vehicle, but wishes to own in near future to achieve the objective.

3.  Methodology, reporting and working relationships:

The Logistic department will be a profit centre and based at Balasore The Logistics Manager would head the Logistics department and report to the Managing Director.

In consultation with the Managing Director the Manager will develop a long term and short term Logistics plan, road map and action plan to achieve the objective detailing activities, timelines, outputs and outcomes.

The Logistics Manager will be responsible to create the department and build a smart & professional logistics organisation with a lean team, promoting the culture of creativity, innovation and execution, drive the team to achieve its mandated objectives.

The LM will present reports detailing achievements, challenges and the way forward on a periodic basis.

4.  Outputs and deliverables

The Logistics Manager will be responsible for the following outcomes and deliverables:

a)  Create the Logistics Department as a profit centre.

b)  A clear logistics policy of the company.

c)  Deliver the products to the customer timely and safely (without transit damage) to the customers place within the most cost effective manner.

d)  Find ways to reduce the present cost of transportation.

e)  Develop a network with transporters, lorry owners, logistics companies to arrange the required lorries timely and cost effective manner.

f)  Utilise effectively and manage lorries and movement of the same involving technology, which the company plans to own either on lease/wet lease or by owning the same. The job may require handling the drivers also.

g)  Managing dispatch team effectively and dispatches with the objectives of Zero delay.

5.  Required qualifications, skills and experience

Essential

a)  Well educated with managerial & administrative capability and aggressive personality.

b)  Extensive knowledge of Logistics system and knowledge of use of modern technology, such as lorry monitoring system etc.

c)  At least five years’ relevant work experience in a similar position handling logistics independently either independently or under a departmental head with good track record.

d)  Keeping check on system shortcoming and immediately overcoming them.

e)  Knowledge of documentation.

f)  Handling situation in emergency such as difficulties in transit and monitoring goods for timely delivery.

g)  Demonstrated experience in developing strategic plans, implementation management plans and monitoring and evaluation frameworks.

h)  Demonstrated ability to work effectively with senior management and as part of a team to deliver results on time.

i)  Relevant computer skills in Microsoft Office programs and other internationally accepted software packages.

a)  Knowledge of warehouse management.

b)  Working in a corporate culture.

c)  Exposure to similar, and other related/ useful filed.

d)  Ability to motivate people.

e)  Should own and drive vehicle for local commuting.

6.  Career:

The employee will have the opportunity to demonstrate his capability in establishing the logistics department.

As the company is in the growth trajectory, the performing employee will have opportunity to craft his career in the organisation. As the present position will be as Manager, he may raise vertically based on his performance.

7.  Terms and Conditions

The Logistics Manager will be will be based in Balasore with travel to other places when required.

The Manager shall be offered remuneration as CTC (cost to company basis) including a basic pay, allowances, and reimbursements as per HR policy & rule of the Co.

A suitable package will not be a constraint for deserving and highly deserving candidate.
