TEAM LEADER – C Shift

JOB DESCRIPTION

Post:Team Leader, C Shift – Maternity Cover

Hours: 15 hours per week, 38 weeks per annum

Salary Scale:£19,802 pro rata

Line Manager: Support Services Manager

Main purpose of the Job:

To work in collaboration with the manager in facilitating high professional standards of care for the learners at WESC Foundation.

To provide leadership, management, development and support in conjunction with the team leader for the School /College care provision.

To be responsible for the delivery of high quality care provision at WESC Foundation.

To ensure the delivery of sound, appropriate and individual quality care to learners and their families, in conjunction with the manager.

To deputise for the manager and take responsibility for initiatives in the care provision and across the campus.

To improve standards of education across the multi - disciplinary provision.

Management Duties and Responsibilities:

To conduct performance management and supervision for staff.

In collaboration with other managers to be responsible for the delivery, monitoring, implementation and evaluation of care services which promote the care, education, therapeutic needs, health and wellbeing of the learners.

To support the learners by promoting independence and employing strategies to recognise and reward achievement of self-reliance.

To participate in a forum to enable the learners to feedback their views about care standards and the quality of care at WESC Foundation and to be responsive to their opinion.

To carry out care assessments for learners.

To ensure that all learners have high quality person centred care plans which are implemented, reviewed and evaluated in collaboration with other professions and comply with current legislation and best practice.

To support the development of Care Plans in partnership with the learner, parents, teaching, therapy, health and care teams.

To improve standards of learning as part of the 24 hour curriculum.

To lead a team of staff to provide a well organised and effective system of care throughout the School and College.

To contribute to the self evaluation and school improvement processes.

To work shifts, sleep ins, on call and attend meetings as required.

  • All staff will attend or deliver appropriate CPD/training sessions either in the employer’s or their own time. Some posts require mandatory training and this must be complete within the stated timescale

Qualifications: / NVQ 3 Health and Care or
NVQ 3 Caring for Children and Young People or equivalent / NVQ Level 4 Care/RMA
Maths and English GCSE / O Level grade C or above
Experience and knowledge: / Management of the care of learners with complex needs
Accountability of own role and others within the care team
Compiling protocols and guidelines
Leadership in quality initiatives
Understanding of child protection issues and is able to guide and instruct staff in safe practices.
Experience of organising and running activities on and off site. / Project management
Additional First Aid
Skills and Ability: / Can use MIS systems to maximum use and can input and extract relevant information.
Can provide support and mentorship for staff who attend Annual Reviews and work as a Link/ Key worker.
Has knowledge of different communication approaches.
Able to administer medication and/or meet specific healthcare/ support needs of service users and support others to deliver this activity safely.
Can complete risk assessment contribute to, update, review , evaluate and or develop care/ support/ moving and handling plans to meet the healthcare/ support needs of service users and conduct, providing basic instruction to others.
Able to identify through observation and supervision, staff who are not demonstrating equality and diversity and provide relevant support.
Can produce different reports when needed and demonstrate understanding of the need for differentiation. / Resource Management
