XnView 1.9 Installation

Downloading the Setup program

If you don’t have a copy of the setup program then you can download it as follows:

  1. Go to the website
  2. Click anywhere within the central XnView logo to enter the site.
  3. In the left hand column, the second group of links is for XnView. Click on the Download link in this group.
  4. Near the centre of the page there are links to various operating systems. Click on Windows 95/98/NT/2000/ME/XP/Vista.
  5. Find the heading: XnView v1.9X Standard version (JPEG2000). Under this heading, there’s an English Setup — Click either of the links Server1 or Server2, just to the right of this.
  6. A File Download dialog opens. Click on Save…

Installation

  1. Double click the setup program. The Setup window for XnView opens. The heading of the first page is “Welcome to the XnView Setup Wizard”. Click Next, or press ENTER.
  1. Licence Agreement page. Click the “I accept the agreement” radio button near the bottom of the window, and then click Next, or press ENTER.
  2. Select Destination Location page. This shows the default folder where the program will be installed. This will be OK, so click Next or press ENTER.
  3. Select Components page. This shows the components that will be installed be default. Just accept these, so press Next, or press ENTER.
  4. Select Start Menu Folder page. Shows the default folder in the All programs menu where the menu item for the program will be created. Click Next or press ENTER.
  5. Select Additional Tasks page. Shows the default shortcut icons that will be created. You’ll probably want the desktop icon, but you might not want the quick launch icon. Make any changes you want, then click Next or press ENTER.
  6. Ready to Install page. Click Install or press ENTER.
  7. Installing page. It takes a short time to install, and then the heading changes to “Completing the XnView Setup Wizard”. Click the Finish button or press ENTER.
