AUDIO STUFF
To change back and forth between stereo-pair and dual channel mono (Modify stereo pair)
Dual channel mono would likely be recorded when you have mics recording two separate sources during production
If you double click on the video it brings up the video track in the viewer window
If you double click on the audio track it brings up the audio track in the viewer window
The Waveform is the visual representation of the volume of the sound
The pink band allows you to adjust the volume
What does it mean when the volume level is set to zero?
The purple band is the Pan adjustment.
What does it mean when the level is set to zero on Pan?
Shift Z: will show the whole audio clip in the window
Command + and Command – will zoom in and out on your audio waveform
There are:
48,000 audio samples per second
1600 per single NTSC video frame
Zoom in all the way using Command +
Click on the “pen tool”
Option Command W
Displays and Hides Waveforms on the Timeline
Shift S Toggles audio scrubbing on and off
Shift + F4 Lock/Unlock all video tracks
Shift + F5 Lock/Unlock all audio tracks
If the video goes above 0 the two red lights at the top of the meter light up when the audio peaks
Under no circumstances should your audio go above 0
Setting audio clip levels
Total Mix: -3 to –6 db
Principal Audio: -6 to –12db
Sound Effects: -12 to –18db
Music –18db
Control left and right bracket [ ] changes audio levels
Sliders adjust the volume for the clip
Record Keyframes: point of change during playback
You always work with keyframes in pairs
If anything changes in a track, you need a keyframe
