Instructions to Candidate

Workbook B: Design & Delivery is the second of three workbooks you must complete to be awarded the Certificate IV Training and Assessment.

The tasks you complete in this workbook will be used as evidence to demonstrate your competency in the following TAA40104 Certificate IV Training and Assessment units:

  • TAADES401B: Use Training Packages to meet client needs
  • TAADES402B: Design and develop learning programs
  • TAADEL401B: Plan and organise group-based delivery
  • TAADEL402A: Facilitate group-based learning
  • TAADEL403B: Facilitate individual learning
  • TAADEL404B: Facilitate work-based learning

This workbook is due within 7 months of your enrolment unless you have made prior arrangements with your facilitator.

Assessment Process

The units you are undertaking in this workbook will be assessed as competent or not yet competent. If your tutor assesses you as being not yet competent, you will be given oral or written feedback on areas needing improvement. You will then be able to resubmit your work for reassessment. A result of not yet competent will be given to students who are unable to demonstrate competency after three unsuccessful attempts.

Assessment Conditions

You are able to access any relevant resources. You must keep a copy of materials you submit for assessment.

All evidence submitted must meet the rules of evidence by being valid, authentic, consistent, sufficient, current, and reliable.

You will be allowed a maximum of three attempts for this assessment. That is, if your first attempt does not meet the performance criteria, you will be given the opportunity to resubmit twice only. If you require a second attempt, this must be submitted within four weeks of the return of your unsuccessful attempt. Please ensure all original work is also submitted with your resubmitted work.

Task B1: Develop a Learning Program

In this task you’ll be developing a Learning Program for one Unit of Competency from any Training Package available on NTIS (

Please remember: You are NOT required to do this for a full qualification. This task only requires you to develop a Learning Program for ONE unit of competency.

PLAN

  1. Identify a client who requires the development of a Learning Program to meet a training need in their organisation. The learning program must be based on a Unit of Competency from a Training Package.
  1. You will need to meet with the client to determine their needs and use the ‘Design Planning Questions’ (from the Learner USB Drive) to guide you through the planning process.

B1.1: Attach the completed ‘Design Planning Questions’.

DEVELOP LEARNING PROGRAM

  1. Develop a Learning Program for your client based on the ‘Learning Program Template’ (from the Learner USB Drive). This learning program must utilise 1 existing Learning Resource (such as a manual, worksheet, handout, activity etc.) that you have modified/contextualised.

B1.2: Attach a copy of the contextualised Learning Resource.

REVIEW

  1. Review your Learning Program with your client using the ‘Design Review Template’(from the Learner USB Drive).

B1.3: Attach the Design Review Template.

  1. Update your Learning Program with the changes/improvements identified in the review process.

B1.4: Attach the final Learning Program.

Task B2: Develop a second Learning Program

In this task you’ll be developing a second Learning Program for one Unit of Competency from any Training Package available on NTIS (

Please remember: You are NOT required to do this for a full qualification. This task only requires you to develop a Learning Program for ONE unit of competency.

PLAN

  1. Identify a client who requires the development of a Learning Program to meet a training need in their organisation. The learning program must be based on a Unit of Competency from a Training Package. The Unit of Competency must be different to the unit selected in the previous task B1.
  1. You will need to meet with the client to determine their needs and use the ‘Design Planning Questions’ (from the Learner USB Drive) to guide you through the planning process.

B2.1: Attach the completed ‘Design Planning Questions’.

DEVELOP LEARNING PROGRAM

  1. Develop a Learning Program for your client based on the ‘Learning Program Template’ (from the Learner USB Drive).

REVIEW

  1. Review your Learning Program with your client using the ‘Design Review Template’(from the Learner USB Drive).

B2.2: Attach the Design Review Template.

  1. Update your Learning Program with the changes/improvements identified in the review process.

TASK B3: Plan and organise group-based delivery

Develop session Plans

  1. Create two session plans for two consecutive sessions from one of the Learning Programs that you developed in tasks B1 and B2. Complete a ‘Session Plan Template’ for each session.

Please note: You will be using these session plans to deliver training in Task B4 and:

  • One of the session plans must be for a time period of 60 minutes or longer.
  • In at least one session you are required to use a learning resource, learning material, or learning activity that has been modified and contextualised for your group. (You could use the new resource you created in the Design Module)

Risk Assessment

  1. Use the Hazard Checklist and Risk Control Action Plan Template(on yourLearner USB Drive) to conduct a risk assessment for the training sessions. As the training sessions are consecutive you are only required to conduct this Risk Assessment process once.

TASK B4: Facilitate Group Based Learning

Delivery & Evaluation

  1. You will now be required to deliver the two consecutive training sessions to a group of learners (at least 3 learners must be present).

Before delivery - review the Learner Evaluation Form(on yourLearner USB Drive)and use it as a guide to the criteria you will be required to demonstrate in your presentation.

At the end of the delivery ensure all learners complete and sign the Learner Evaluation Form.

  1. Finda situation where work-based learning could occur and develop a work-based learning pathway. Use the Work-based Learning Pathway Template (on yourLearner USB Drive) to guide you through the process. Ensure the purpose/objectives of the work based learning pathway are established and agreed with the learner and the learner’s manager.

Ensure the purpose/objectives of the work based learning pathway are established and agreed with the learner and the learner’s manager.

TASK B7: Group Presentation

Conduct a 15 minute presentation in front of a group of learners. This task will be undertaken on the final day of the face-to-face training session.

If you were unable to deliver the presentation at the face-to-face training or are enroled in the self-paced learning option you can submit a video recording of yourself delivering a 15 minute presentation to a group of at least 3 learners. If neither option is suitable please contact LIV Training as this task can be modified to suit your individual needs.

The following resources will be available at your face-to-face training session:

  • A whiteboard and whiteboard markers
  • Laptop with Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Office 2003: Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Digital projector.

During the presentation the facilitator and other learners in the group will assess you. At the end of your presentation the facilitator will provide you with feedback.

Use the ‘Presentation Assessment Tool’ (on your Learner USB Drive) to review what you will be required to demonstrate in your presentation.
