3 credit hours

Course Description

This is the first of six clinical practicum courses designed to integrate evidence based practice and clinical skills into the art and science of anesthesia. The practicum builds on Introduction to Clinical Practicum with students demonstrating progressive acquisition of cognitive, affective and psychomotor knowledge and skills relevant to the advanced practice role of the nurse anesthetist. The practicum follows AANA Standards for Nurse Anesthesia Practice affording the student the opportunity to provide anesthesia care to the family/individual across lifespan for a variety of surgical/medical procedures. Clinical integration conferences are included weekly. Expected student performance is at the Novice Level.
