Post: Initial Response Officer Domestic Abuse DAP/NOR/0516

Location: Norwich, Norfolk

Hours: 20 hours per week Monday - Friday.

Salary: £10,359.60 per annum (FTE £19,424.25 p.a.) increasing on successful completion of probationary period.

The purpose of the role is to undertake comprehensive assessments of victims’ needs and associated risks by phone and identify a range of services that will support those needs, within the remit of the Victim Support service. You will assign victims, where appropriate, to service delivery managers to enable appropriate referral to volunteers. You will also build links with partner organisations that can provide support services to assist in meeting the needs of these victims, ensuring that they receive the support required to complete their journey through the criminal justice system.

You must have a proven track record in successfully working with victims of domestic abuse in a comparable role within a statutory, voluntary or community work setting. You will have a good understanding of domestic abuse and the risks involved. You will have an understanding of and an active commitment to equal opportunities and diversity and have a successful track record of building effective working relationships. You will understand the current issues faced by victims of domestic abuse, and have the ability to work without direct supervision, prioritise work and meet conflicting demands in an organised and methodical manner. Strong IT skills are essential, including the ability to record and process data for management reporting.

The successful applicant will need satisfactory clearance of an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS) and police vetting.
