Project Proposal Guidelines

Carson-Newman University’s Women of Vision (WOV) was organized in 2010 for the purpose of providing support for and working in partnership with Carson-Newman through volunteer and philanthropic efforts. WOV seeks to glorify God and further His kingdom by nurturing truth, enhancing beauty and enriching goodness through the C-N experience.

As a means of carrying out this purpose, each year WOV accepts and considers proposals for campus projects which fall within these categories. Projects may be proposed by faculty, staff, students or interested alumni andC-N supporters. Projects should be identified as furthering one or more of the goals described below:

Truth – Projects whichnurture academic excellence or Christian commitment forC-N students

Beauty – Projects which enhance the physical beauty of campus locations.

Goodness – Projects which enrich the quality of student life through physical improvements, program enhancements, or opportunities for student involvement in service

Project proposals should be on the WOV form provided and include the following:

  • description of the proposed project
  • location of the project
  • cost estimate
  • potential sources of funding
  • justification for the projects (including which of the above pathways the project falls within)
  • identification of the requestor with contact information

Proposals for capital projects should be submitted by October 1 of each year so that they can be considered by the WOV Council at their Fall Retreat for recommendation to the full membership at the Annual Gathering. Other projects/initiatives may be submitted and considered by the WOV Leadership on an as-needed basis throughout the year but early submission is encouraged. Capital projects will generally be scheduled for work during the summer months for completion by the beginning of the next school year. Approval of project proposal is necessary for, but does not guarantee, funding within a specific time frame. Implementation of approved projects will occur as the necessary resources become available. Once a proposed project is approved, a WOV project chair will be named. The project chair and the project coordinator will work with the requestor to implement the project plan. Proposal application forms can be secured from and submitted toLeah Smith, WOV Campus Liaison,in the Office of Advancement.
