Advent Wreath: The Wreath symbolises the Eternity of God. The Evergreen Circle reminds Christians that God has no beginning and no end. There are five candles to symbolise the Light of God coming into the World through the Birth of his Son.

1st Candle, purple – God’s People – of Hope.

2nd Candle, purple – Old Testament Prophets – of Peace.

3rd Candle, pink – John the Baptist – Prepare the Way – Candle of Joy.

4th Candle, purple – Mary Mother of Jesus – Renewal.

5th Candle, white – Christmas – Birth of Christ – The Light of the World.

v  St. Vincent De Paul Collection: The annual Christmas St. Vincent De Paul Collection will take place at all Masses this weekend Sat 10th Dec & Sun 11th Dec.

v  Parish Dinner Dance: Christmas gift idea! This event will take place on Sat 28th Jan 2017 at The Seven Oaks Hotel, Carlow. Tickets are available from Parish Office or from Parish Council Members. Maybe consider giving someone the gift of tickets this Christmas? Always an enjoyable night out.

v  A Pre-Christmas Treat: ‘An Aspiro Christmas’ Sunday 11th December, St. Mary’s Church, Castle Hill, Carlow at 4pm. Tickets €10, available at the door.

v  Bigstone National School: Will hold its annual Christmas Concert in Bigstone Hall on Tuesday 20th December at 7pm sharp. All are welcome.

v  Please Remember: To check on or phone your older relatives, neighbours and friends who may need assistance with food, fuel or medication during the winter period. People living alone may appreciate a short visit and a chat from time to time.

v  Parishioners: Please be aware of the need to be careful with purses, handbags and other valuables. Do not leave these items on view in your car while attending Mass or other Ceremonies.

v  Irish Blood Transfusion Service: Next clinic will be in Church of Ireland Hall Athy on 29th December from 4:30pm – 8pm & 30th December from 12pm – 3:30pm.
