Edgemere donates kitchen suppliestoSt. Joseph’s Residence at special luncheon

Dallas, NOV.20, 2008: Often, residents and guests of Edgemere have referred to dining at the retirement community as a “five-star experience.” With a professional wait staff, a luxurious atmosphere, high quality ingredients, and experienced and passionate chefs presenting fresh and flavorful cuisines daily, it is not surprising that the community has garnered a strong reputation for fine dining. Recently, Edgemere donated the time, talents and experience of their dining services team, as well as more than $1200 worth of kitchen supplies, to St. Joseph’s Residence, an assisted living community in south Dallasduring a special luncheon.

“We began our relationship with St. Joseph’s Residence in September and the relationship has had a positive impact on both communities,” said John Falldine, managing director of Edgemere. “Our residents want to use some of the resources of this community to give back to other seniors, and we felt that offering the residents and staff ofSt. Joseph’s Residence a fine dining experience and new kitchen supplies would not only be beneficial, but fun as well.”

Director of dining services Dane Cummins, dining room manager Obed Salas, sous chef Jose Amador, executive chef Charles French, and members of the Edgemere wait staff gathered at St. Joseph’s Residence to prepare the dining room and the five-course meal, bringing with them ingredients for preparation and brand new kitchen supplies such as roasting pans, skillets of all sizes, colanders, flatware, and salt and pepper shakers and table linens for each table at the community.

“Typically, the sisters at St. Joseph’s eat only after every resident has finished lunch,” said Cummins. “This time, we had our wait staff take care of the residents in the main dining room and had one server devoted to serving the sisters in a separate dining room that was set up for the occasion. It was wonderful to see the sisters relax and enjoy a delicious meal from our team.”

St. Joseph’s Residence is a not-for-profit, self supporting assisted living facility operating within the Catholic Diocese of Dallas since 1955.
