FOI Response Document

FOI08099

Thank you for your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 about empty properties received on 02/03/2016.

I am writing under the freedom of information act 2000 concerning the number of empty properties in Cardiff.

I would like the data for empty properties which are councilcommercial, council residential and privately owned - and if youcould divide the empty properties into these groups that would begreatly appreciated.

I would request this information is delivered electronically in the form of a spreadsheet - as a list of the addresses of all the emptyproperties including postcode.

If you cannot provide all lines of the address, the ward area andpostcode and type of property will suffice.

If you are unable to provide this information please advise me asto how to refine my request to make the information easier to find.

If you are only able to partially disclose the information pleasedo so - and if some of the information is already readily available Please direct me as to where to find it.

We have considered your request and enclose the following information:

·  Please see attachment 1 of 2 – Current Empty Reliefs

·  Please see attachment 2 of 2 – Current Empty Exemptions

N.B. this data was extracted on the 17th November 2015.

You will note that some of the information has been redacted (blanked out) as those parts of the response are considered to be exempt. The exemption applied is:

Section 40(2) of the Freedom of Information Act effectively prohibits the release of personal information if doing so would breach the principles in the Data Protection Act 1998. We have a statutory duty under Section 4 (4) of the Data Protection Act 1998 – “to comply with the data protection principles in relation to all personal data”.

We are currently in the process of updating our publication scheme website to include a large amount of data readily available for our customers, due to this reason the business rate information has not been updated as regularly as intended to. In future we will be publishing updated business rates on a half yearly basis.

If you have any queries or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Please remember to quote the reference number above in any future communications.
