  1. God Could not do for His Son what He Would do for us because His Son must…
  1. Be Perfect Man to represent Man to bear Man’sPunishment.Phil. 2:8

Being found in fashion as a man, He…became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that…should live unto righteousness. I Pet. 2:24

  1. Be Pure, Spotless and Sinless to be the Sin Sacrifice to Satisfy a Holy God.II Cor. 5:21

For He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made

the righteousness of God in Him.

Where and When we Could we Should now remember Him as he Would have us do so:I Cor. 11:26

For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do show the Lord's death till He come.

What can I give Him, poor as I am?If I were a shepherd, I would bring a lamb;
If I were a Wise Man, I would do my part;Yet what I can I give Him: give my heart.

REFLECTIONS FOR THE WEEKR386

  1. It is amazing what God woulddo for us, He couldnot do for His Son.

It is equally amazing what the Son could do for Himself, He would not,

yet He would do for us.

Consider the time He was tempted.

The Devil tempted Him:Mt. 4:5-7

Then the devil taketh Him up into the holy city, and setteth Him on a pinnacle of the temple, And saith unto Him, If Thou be the Son of God, cast Thyself down: for it is written, He shall give His angels charge concerning Thee: and in their hands they shall bear Thee up, lest at any time thou dash Thy foot against a stone.

Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

Jesus came to this world to give His life a ransom for us – to die on the cross and to bear our sins on the tree in our stead. It is true that if He yielded to the Devil’s temptation to jump down from the pinnacle, His angels would save Him but He would not be able to save us.

Thus, He could save Himself, but He could not save us then.

Now He, having paid the price of our sin on the cross, can also say:Heb. 2:16;

In that He Himself hath suffered being tempted, He is able to succour them that are tempted…For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Christ has for sin atonement made
What a wonderful Savior!
We are redeemed, the price is paid
What a wonderful Savior!

Refrain:What a wonderful Savior is Jesus, my Jesus!

Would you not join in to praise Him with the hymn above this week?

Sing it constantly in your head if you know it.REFLECT.

  1. When Jesus was surrounded by soldiers with the evil intent to capture Him, having been identified by a kiss from Judas, one of His disciples took up his sword and struck off the ear of one of the high priest’s servants. But the Lord needed no such assistance. He said, Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He shall presently give Me more than twelve legions of angels? But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?(Mt. 26:53, 54)

If He had saved Himself then, He would not be able to fulfil the scriptures and He would not be able to save us!

He could save Himself, but He would not. He would, as His mission was, rather save us.

What an amazing Saviour, our Lord is.

I praise Him for the cleansing bloodWhat a wonderful Savior!
That reconciled my soul to GodWhat a wonderful Savior!

Refrain

He cleansed my heart from all its sinWhat a wonderful Savior!
And now He reigns and rules thereinWhat a wonderful Savior!

Refrain

To Him I’ve given all my heart:What a wonderful Savior!
The world shall never share a part:What a wonderful Savior!

Refrain

Yes, sing this over and over again in your head and in your heart this week and REFLECTon what He could do for Himself, yet would not, but would rather doit for you!

Points to Ponder:

If only we would all that we could God Could with us all that He Would.
