Course Description:
Introduction to recreational games will introduce games suitable for lifetime leisure activities; may include speedball, kickball, dodgeball, Basketball, Board Games, Horseshoes, and/or badminton. This course will emphasize the rules of each game and the skills necessary to play.
Course Objectives
The students should know and be able to:
- Demonstrate basic skills in selected games
- Demonstrate team and/or individual play concepts and strategies during game play
- Demonstrate proficiency in skills, rules, and strategies that will carry over to lifetime activities
- Demonstrate knowledge of history, safety, and performance techniques in selected games
Expectations
- All students must dress out for class.
Full participation is a must in this class: meaning full effort is put forth in every workout,
warm‐up, stretch,aerobic and anaerobic segments of this class.

- Dressing out/Participation 70%
- Tests/Quizzes 30%

Materials Needed:
- Dress out clothes (something other than what is worn to school): shorts, warm-ups, t-shirt, athletic shoes
- Notebook
- Paper
- Pen or Pencil
- Personal Hygiene items: Deodorant, towel, ect.
- Other materials as deemed appropriate by the teacher
School Wide Study Group: Tutorial Days are held on Wednesdays
Passes-The teacher to whom a student is assigned for a period is responsible for that student. Students are not to be allowed to leave class without a hall pass. Teachers must use the standard pass forms, which can be obtained from the Principal’s office or the main office. Only the teacher issuing the pass and the person to whom the student reports should enter all information required on it.
Attendance: The state would like for students to only miss 6 days of school per year, this is a negative reflection on our school report card. We will home visits if you exceed the 6th day.
Grades: Student performance shall be recorded on the permanent record using numerical grades. These numerical grades represent the following letter grades.
A Shall represent an average of 90-100
B Shall represent an average of 80-89
C Shall represent an average of 75-79.
D Shall represent an average of 70-74
F Shall represent an average of below 70
Grade Point Average: A student's grade point average (GPA) Is based on quality points (See Chart Below regular High School courses 4.0 scale and AP, IB and College/University Courses 5.0 scale) awarded for each grade earned. High School Student Transcripts include the GPA, Class Rank and Numerical Average. QUALITY POINTS Regular Courses Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB) and College/University courses

Student Parent Agreement
My child and I have read and discussed the information contained in the Health class syllabus and understand that it is my child’s responsibility and obligation to follow these basic rules, procedures and expectations in order to succeed in his/her Health class. As a parent, or guardian, I will encourage my son/daughter to follow the rules, procedures, and expectations. I will support the teacher’s and school’s action in the event that my child does not follow the rules.
