WHAT: The Junior League of Louisville Announces Award Recipients & 2016-2017 Board

The Junior League of Louisville (JLL) held its annual awards meeting on Tuesday, May 17 honoring outstanding members and community partners. The meeting was held at the Parklands.

Award winners were as follows:

Founders Award- Mary Sullivan

This award is presented to a Sustainer that has demonstrated continued Civic and Charitable Leadership on behalf of the League and the Community. Mary is a 30+ year member of the Junior League of Louisville. She has also worked for Metro United Way for more 40 years. Mary’s dedication to bettering our community is unmatched.

Outstanding Provisional Award- Diana Riesenberg

This award is presented to a provisional class member in recognition of outstanding individual or team leadership skills shown while completing the Provisional Course. Provisionals are new members to JLL.

Member of Achievement:JLLLeadership Award- Anne Keller

This award is given to a committee chair that takes an active role in developing leaders by serving as a mentor, motivator, and delegator. This member has executed her position gracefully and to the best of her ability. Anne successfully added new wholesale accounts that had been out of reach in the past and found unique opportunities to market Bluegrass Gatherings. She also was responsible for selling the last remaining copies of earlier cookbooks, Splendor in the Bluegrass and Cordon Bluegrass.

Member of Achievement: Pia Posadas Miller Personal Development LeadershipAward- Kathryn Wickenhauser This award is given to a member who takes the initiative to go above and beyond her committee and membership responsibilities. This member exhibited a great can-do attitude, has taken thankless jobs and has risen to the occasion when called upon. This award was renamed to honor the late Pia Posadas Miller in May of 2015. Kathryn was a member of our spring market committee. She led the charge for requesting, collecting and organizing our silent auction. She also was the first member to set up a silent auction online so the community could bid even if they could not attend the event.

Memberof Achievement: Community Leadership Award- Hala Ziady This award is given to a member who has demonstrated her leadership skills in the Louisville community in non-profit organizations whether serving on a Board or as a dedicated volunteer. Hala Ziady is a past president of JLL. She currently serves on boards for YMCA and Kappa Delta.

Community Partner Award- Commonwealth Bank & Trust This award is presented to a corporation or community organization that has shown tremendous support to the league and its mission. Commonwealth Bank & Trust helped establish our 100 for 100 account. The goal is to raise $100,000 for our 100th anniversary in 2021. The money will then be used to fund projects in the Louisville community. Pete Ward accepted on the behalf of Commonwealth Bank & Trust.

Community Outreach Award- Nicole Nash This award is presented to the member who has exuded the mission ofJLLto provide service to the community and training toJLLmembers. Nicole Nash has served on the Lyndon city council as well as a past chair of JLL’s Public Affairs Committee.

Member Enhancement Award- Kathleen Reed & Julie Broder This award is given to a member who has significantly improved the quality of membership for her fellow members. This year we had two winners. These two women chaired the Retention committee. They set up sessions to educate members about JLL and get feedback regarding member experience. They also were responsible for placing members on committees.

Philanthropist Award- Ashley Cassetty This award is given to a member who has significantly increased the bottom line of the organization. From securing donations to ensuring aJLLfundraiser is successful, this member has helped to provide theJLLwith the financial resources it needs to carry out its mission. This award was given to Ashley Cassetty. This year she involved the league in many new programs including Brackets for Good and Giving Tuesday.

A League of Their Own Award- Emily Hart, Hala Ziady, Meaghan Gift, Madelyn Cerra, Lauren Langley, Blair Crush, Carter Webb, Alexis Hunter Raley This award is presented to a committee that personifies team spirit. This committee has worked together effectively throughout the year and has met all challenges head on to successfully accomplish their assignment. This team took on a lot of extra work this year. In the 2016-2017 JLL year we will split into a Governance Board and a Management team. This committee prepared all new job descriptions, educated the membership on the split, and interviewed and place members on the board and Management team. They also placed all committee chairs for 2016-2017.

The new Board of Directors was welcomed as part of the celebration. The Board is as follows:
