Purdue Student Government

2017 – 2018 Application

The Exploratory Studies Purdue Student Government Senators is a group of three students who serve as a bridge between Exploratory Studies and the Purdue Student Government. These three students provide opportunities for Exploratory Studies students' voices and perspectives to be shared within the larger student government body and represent the Exploratory Studies student body at large.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To positively represent Exploratory Studies, its students and staff, and Purdue University
  • To maintain active and productive membership by fulfilling all duties outlined below

SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Attend all meetings of the student senate or send a suitable proxy if unable to attend
  • Host at least one outreach event with Exploratory Studies focused on student government initiatives
  • Hold weekly office hours in the PSG office
  • Write and distribute a constituent letter once per semester
  • Serve on at least one standing committee of the Purdue student senate
  • Serve on a least one committee of the university senate or other university committee
  • Attend at least one meeting of their respective student councils each month
  • Hold at least one meeting per semester with the PSG advisor for Exploratory Studies
  • Attend at least one board of directors meeting and one meeting of the student supreme court per semester

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a full-time student (12 hours or more)
  • Must be in good standing at time of application (not on probation)
  • Must be in Exploratory Studies currently. If a student CODOs to a major at the beginning of a semester or in the middle, they may still represent Exploratory Studies during that semester.
  • Fulfillment of all duties listed above in a professional manner

  • There is a two-part selection process: 1) the application review and 2) the in-person interview. Interviews may start before the application deadline.
  • Not all who apply will be interviewed.
