Q532 LED Flashing Rates Author: Will Smith

LED Flashing Rates – Unknown Reasons & Fault Finding Procedures.

CO & Stations can flash for a number of reasons of which many are logical and easy to determine. E.g Line 1 is on hold. However if a LED is flashing for an unknown reason the first question to ask what has changed lately e.g. we disconnected a PSTN trunk, we were trying to set off-net forward, a user was logged out of the main hunt group. Once a clue has been given these features can be investigated to explain the reason or rectified to stop the flashing. I will list these 3 reasons & solutions here then follow up with a troubleshooting method.

Tip: After changing settings in PGM 170, at the handset press TRANS then the DSS Flex button then Speaker. This causes the status of the buttons to refresh.

1.  PSTN lines flash. Flash 240 IPM Flutter (3 quick flashes, then off)
This may be due to a new feature that has been introduced recently. It indicates that a line is not connected. There are a number of suggestions to resolve.

·  Connect the lines / wait till they are connected.

·  Deprogram the non-connected lines. E.g. with LOOP keys or empty or other.

·  Turn the feature off via the Attendant: TRANS 0 (ATD Password) 72 press the flashing lines.

·  PGM 170 COL Outgoing Disabled set to Flash Off or Flash Steady (= constantly ON)

2.  Any CO type constantly flashes. Flash 240 IPM Flutter (3 quick flashes, then off)
This may be because the Attendant has set Incoming CO Offnet to a speed location.

·  Try cancelling this forwarding – 554 5 0 #

·  If the customer has a long term need for this feature consider setting PGM 170 COL Incoming Offnet CFW to Flash Steady (= constantly ON)

3.  Station DSS Flex button flashes.
This may be due to the agent logging out of a UCD group.

·  Try 571 then group number to log them back in.

·  If the customer finds this distracting in PGM 170 UCD DND (Off Duty) or DSS Hunt DND (Off Duty) set to Flash Off.

4.  Troubleshooting.
If you do not know the reason for the LED flashing this procedure should help you determine the cause.

a)  Take abackup.(and/or a screenshot of PGM 170)

b)  InPGM170 start from the bottom of the list (or from the top if it is CO related) and change the setting to Flash Off

c)  Press TRANS then the DSS Flex button then Speaker to update the status of the button.

d)  Repeat steps b) & c) untilthe DSS Flex button stops flashing.

e)  Once the flashing stops change thenon-cause LED flashing attributesback to original settings

f)  From the identified attribute investigate this reason depending on the name of the LED flashing attribute (and/or leave as FlashOff if customer does not need this indication).

g)  After fixing reason (e.g. log agent back into group) change LED flashing attributeback to original setting if required.
