Work Study Training Agreement

The major purpose of this program is to provide valuable school-to-work education for the student in an occupational field. This agreement is to show the responsibilities for the student employee, parent, school, and employer or volunteer coordinator.

All persons concerned jointly agree to the following conditions:

  1. The student employee enters this program to learn all that the school and the employer can provide in an nature of job information, skills, and attitudes concerning a particular occupation.
  1. The student employee must maintain regular attendance in school and on the job. He/she cannot work on any school day that he/she fails to attend school. Exceptions are permissible only with mutual consent of the employer and teacher-coordinator.
  1. A student who is dropped from school rolls will be terminated from the Work Study training program. A student will be dropped from the program, resulting in a loss of credit, if he/she leaves his/her employment consent of the teacher-coordinator.
  1. Pay and hours (or volunteer schedules) are to be determined by the employer. In general, student employees should average at least 10 hours per week when school is in session, or 15 hours per week if scheduled for two periods.
  1. The student must be at least 16 years old and a senior in good standing at the time he/she enters this program. All local, state, and Federal laws regarding employment of youth under the age of 18 apply to work study student students.
  1. The student employee and/or his or her parents are responsible for providing transportation to and from the job site.
  1. The school provides a teacher-coordinator to oversea the program. The teacher-coordinator will make visits to the work site at least once during the year to consult with the employer.
  1. Evaluation of job performance will be a joint effort of the employer and teacher-coordinator.
  1. The employee is requested to inform the teacher-coordinator before discharging the student for any reason.
  1. The employer expects the student employee to be honest, punctual, cooperative, courteous, and willing to learn.
  1. The employer or volunteer coordinator will be asked to complete a short evaluation on the student employee during each semester.
