JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE:Development Coach

SALARY:up to £22,658

RESPONSIBLE TO:Service Manager

RESPONSIBLE FOR:The delivery and associated actions around Aberdeen Foyer’s employability programmes

Main Responsibilities

To adopt an asset based, client centred, solution focused, recovery orientated and flexible approach to service delivery and development

To develop and implement a broad range of individual and group work interventions focused on employability support

To support clients to make successful transitions to positive outcomes

To work as part of an integrated team

To take lead responsibility for the development of identified aspects of the service as directed by the Operational Manager

Client Support

Undertake employability assessments with clients to determine suitability of provision

Develop and deliver group and individual sessions and resources appropriate to the needs of clients and the service/programme requirements

Identify the employability support needs of each participant and develop an individual training plan with identified goals that are regularly reviewed with each client

Support clients to develop, sustain and access appropriate educational, training, employability and social activities, services and resources

Support clients in their engagement and retention on programmes and activities

Identify and provide support to participants while on the programme, work placement and, at times, during their early period in employment

Internal Liaison

Liaise with other Foyer staff as appropriate to ensure a co-ordinated approach to providing services to clients

Support clients to access additional support from other services and programmes within the Foyer as appropriate

Attend regular internal meetings as required

External Liaison

Liaise with employers and partner agencies to secure work placements, work trials and job opportunities

Engagenew employers to support service delivery and progression to positive outcomes

Develop and maintain effective liaison with partner agencies to support clients to access additional support/programmes from other agencies as appropriate

Assist in the delivery of information sessions to interested agencies or partner organisations when required

Assist with the marketing of related programmes including presentations to potential referral agencies and employers

Attend regular external meetings as required

Recording

Maintain accurate client records, case notes and associated records

Reporting

Provide regular progress reports and service impact reports

Quality

Undertake effective monitoring and evaluation of services delivered

Contribute to the ongoing development of quality services and initiatives

Involve clients in consultations on key service changes or proposals to ensure clients remain central to service delivery

Other

Evidence the ability to understand and support transitions for moving from benefits into employment, training or education.

Proven track record of case managing clients who may have multiple barriers.

Ability to form, maintain and appropriately end relationships with clients.

Demonstrate an understanding of who our clients are, their needs and how these can be met.

Ability to anticipate and identify problems and find solutions.

Display self-motivation, initiative and commitment.

Understand the effects of non-verbal communication such as body language.

Can effectively listen and show patience, empathy and a non-judgemental attitude.

Support the identification and implementation of volunteering opportunities and student and employability placements

Undertake relevant activities related to continuous professional development

Carry out all duties in accordance with the policies and procedures of Aberdeen Foyer

To carry out any other duties as required

Additional Duties – ARC

As part of the assessment process, complete single shared assessment with clients

Develop and maintain links with allocated cluster(s)

Work in conjunction with the Integrated Care-Planning and Stabilisation Service
