SENIOR INVESTIGATOR: IMPORT AND EXPORT CONTROL X4(Contract Positions ending 30 September 2018)

SALARY R361 659 per annum plus 37% in lieu of benefits (Ref/ITAC 09/15)

Requirements: A three year legal degree or equivalent qualification. Sound knowledge and understanding of import/export control and its role in economic development in the common customs area of SACU.Ability to communicate effectively in public and private sectors.Proven leadership skills and the ability to work in a team.Ability to render creative contribution to the efficiency and effectiveness of the organisation.Excellent investigation and research skills.Good planning and organising skills.Computer literacy.A valid drivers ‘license.

Key responsibilities: The successful applicant will be required to: Administer tasks emanating from the enforcement of the provisions of the International Trade Administration Act, Act 71 of 2002, which entails to: Gather information pertaining to alleged contravention of the Act. Conduct investigations pertaining to illegally imported goods or goods destined for export. Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with the conditions of import/export permits. Seize imported/exported goods due to non-compliance. Maintain database regarding all matters investigated/inspected. Keep track of the processes and compile reports. Provide assistance in the legal process. Keep focus on the price preference system on the exportation of scrap metals. Candidate will be expected to travel extensive locally.
