is seeking candidates for the assistant professor position

in the Section of Computer Science and Discrete Mathematics

at the Institute of Mathematics

A person applying for the position of Assistant Professor is expected to meet the requirements defined in Art. 109 of the Act of 27 July 2005,Law on Higher Education (Dziennik Ustaw – Official Journal of Laws of 2005, No. 164, item 1365, as amended) and the following eligibility requirements.

Entry requirements:

  1. PhD degree in mathematics in the discipline of computer science or PhD degree in computer sciences.
  2. Having experience in conducting classes in the field of computer science.
  3. Authorship or co-authorship (in 2014-2017) of at least one publication from the A list of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education with a point value of not less than 35 points (according to the list of scientific journals containing the history of the journal from the published lists for 2013-2016 published on the website of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education on January 26, 2017).
  4. Scientific activity and active participation in scientific conferences (in particular on an international scale).
  5. Scientific research in the field of computer science; conducting research in the field of computational intelligence methods will be an additional advantage.
  6. Language skills sufficient to conduct classes in the Polish language at the Faculty, in particular in the field of study “Applied computer science”.

Required documents:

  1. An application letter to the Rector of the University of Silesia(with consent to the processing of personal data).
  2. A full Curriculum Vitae, along withemployment record.
  3. A personal questionnaire.
  4. A certified copy of an educational certificate (PhD diploma and M.Sc. diploma)
  5. List of publications and information on participation in scientific conferences.
  6. Information on didactic activities and information on organizational activities.
  7. Presentation of the scientific action plan.
  8. A letter of recommendation from a university professor or the PhD supervisor.
  9. Copies of other documents confirming the possession of the required qualifications.
  10. Declaration in accordance with art. 109 paragraph 1 - Act of July 27, 2005 - Law on Higher Education.
  11. A statement that the University of Silesia will be the basic place of work within the meaning of the Act (Article 2 paragraph 1 point 33 of the Act on Higher Education).
  12. Candidate's declaration authorizing the selected basic organizational unit of the University to include him/her in the minimum staff resources required for the field of study for the first and second cycle studies or uniform master studies at the University of Silesia.

Note:

The competition for the positionwill be resolved within a period of not more than two months from the date of its announcement. The candidate selected in the competition procedure is employed by the Rector, at the request of the Faculty Dean, after consulting the Faculty Council. Employment may take place under an employment contract for an indefinite or specified period of time. The first employment at the University of Silesia is for a definite period. The University of Silesia in Katowice does not provide housing.
