Substances and Their Classifications

Notes:

-Below are the main substances that are used by teenagers and young adults (most popular). This list is by no means exhaustive and many other forms and compounds exist.

-There are many names for products derived from the cannabis / hemp plant (Sensimilla, Ganja, Chronic, Hydro, etc). They are all dangerous and illegal. All forms of marijuana fall into all three categories (stimulant, depressant, hallucinogen). Marijuana is an easy drug to combine or “lace” with other substances.

-Hashish or “Hash” is a more potent form of marijuana and comes from the same cannabis plant. Like marijuana, THC is the main ingredient but the hash product is mostly resin combined with dangerous solvents.

-Alcohol includes: beer, wine, hard liquor such as gin, vodka, whiskey, rum, etc. Alcohol initially acts as a stimulant due to the accompanying ingredients in most beverages. Later (minutes / hours), it acts as a severe depressant on the central nervous system.

-Ecstasy is extremely dangerous because it falls into all three categories. It is classified as a stimulant (initially), a depressant (later), and a hallucinogen (throughout). It is also extremely toxic as it is made solely from chemical compounds.

-Rohypnol is a severe depressant that produces severe memory loss and a disconnection between your mind and body (central nervous system).

-Alcohol and Inhalants cause brain cell loss.

-Just because some substances below come from the Earth, does not mean they are less dangerous or addictive.
