Monthly Theme: Cooperation
Important Information
- Monday, January 21st schools are closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
- Please check your child’s folder each night for important information and empty their backpack every couple days so there is room in the folder and backpack for projects and updated information.
- On February 12, 2013 we will be having our Valentine’s Day Party. On this day we will do a craft, eat a snack, and let the children pass out Valentine’s. Please see the 3rd page of this newsletter for more information about our party and Valentine’s details!

AM CLASS
The morning class will continue their unit on numbers and this week we will be working on the number 1. We will learn how to count 1, how to write 1, and the concept of 1. We continue to do games that involve cooperation such as memory, turn taking games, and completing a puzzle together. We have been strengthening our fine motor skills through various activities such as using clothespins to pick up small objects, writing on chalkboards, and building with various small objects. Mrs. Shakin will be in on Wednesday to do a speech lesson with the class! We love when she comes to help us in the classroom. As a reminder, PE is on Thursday! Please make sure your child is wearing their sneakers.
PM CLASS
The afternoon will continue their Handwriting Without Tears unit and this week we will work on the letter “G” (big curve, little line, little line). We are using iPads, chalkboards, dot art and many other materials to learn our letters! We continue to do games that involve cooperation such as memory, turn taking games, and completing a puzzle together. We have been strengthening our fine motor skills through various activities such as using clothespins to pick up small objects, writing on chalkboards, and building with various small objects. Just a reminder, PE is on Monday. Please make sure your child is wearing sneakers.
VALENTINE’S DAY PARTY INFORMATION
- Our Valentine’s Day Party will be held on Tuesday, February 12th! The morning party will be from 10:15-11:00 and the afternoon party will be from 2:05-2:50. Please look for an e-mail regarding the sign up to bring goodies and our list of volunteers for the party.
- Valentines for students: During our party we take time for the students to have the opportunity to hand out Valentines to all of the students in the class. If your child would like to participate in this activity please make sure they (or you) fill out just the spot on the Valentine that says FROM. For example if Mrs. Long was doing a Valentine it would look like:
