Pat Griffith opened the meeting with prayer.

Minutes were approved as written.

REPORTS

Cemetery Committee- Molly Garrison, Chuck Estell, and Matt Forquer were in attendance. Chuck Estell is now the caretaker of the cemetery. Molly Garrison is a new member of the Committee. Continue working on clearing trees and cleaning up cemetery.

Christian Services- Lisa McKeivier reported that there will be Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners this year. There will be a food drive during lent and possibly a baby drive for advent.

Parish and Family Life-Mary Beth Poe sent a written report. The only thing the Parish Family activities have planned at this time is the Parish Picnic on July 22, after the 5:00 mass. Father usually does the mass at the Knights the night of the picnic. I need to confirm that Fr. Ted is having mass there.

Spiritual Life- Mary Kay Wood reported that we again had the blessing of Advents Wreaths at all the Masses on the first Sunday of Advent. The Word Among Us was made available to all in the parish for both Advent 2016 and Lent 2017 as well as the Little Blue and Black Books. Blessing of the homes was made available on the Feast of Epiphany by Dee Printing. The Best Lent Ever by Matthew Kelly was made available on line or by reading the book Resisting Happiness during Lent. Other events sponsored by the Spiritual Life Committee were the Stations of the Cross at St Joseph Cemetery and the Seder Meal in the church hall. Station of the Cross booklets were reviewed in an attempt to find “new homes” for some of them. Eighty Economic Justice booklets were sent to St. Mary of the Springs. Spiritual Life Committee is presently taking a break until the church is restored. They will be taking part in the rededication.

Finance Committee – Father Ted was in attendance. Things are looking good.

Knights of Columbus- John Goode was present. Stated the Knights of Columbus are having socials which include the families.

St. Vincent DePaul- Has 8 members presently. Applied for a grant in the amount of $5,000.00 to help with utilities and rent in Pickaway county. Last deposit in April was $2,750.00 from the collection. We assisted 6 families with a total of $1,502.00 in April.
The SVDP Society continues to do home visits to pray, support and help the families in as many ways as needed. We take a gift basket of toiletries to each visit and the families can choose what they need out of the basket. We purchase food vouchers from the Discount grocery story outlet and give them to families who need food.

Youth Ministry & PSR- no representative, no report.

Choir / Cantors- No representative

Nursing Home- Mary Kay Wood noted that all were contacted by visits on Sundays. Currently have 21 residents in nursing homes. Always looking for parishioners who would be willing to help with prayer services in the nursing homes aswell as play the piano. We have a total of 9 presiders and 5 helpers and 4 play the piano.

Sacristans – Currently have 8 sacristans. We have 44 greeters in 3 groups. There are 43 ushers in 3 groups. We continue to add ushers and greeters when possible. We have 18 Eucharistic Ministers who distribute communion to the shut-ins. We now have 15 shut ins we take communion to each Sunday.

Community Kitchen- Mona Allen was not in attendance but sent the following report: Community Kitchen has been going well and I always have plenty of great volunteers who help out. The May 29th kitchen will not be held due to the Memorial Day holiday. Our next Community Kitchen will be on July 31st.”

Bereavement – Anne Strawser noted that during restoration there will be no funeral lunches.

Restoration –Church Louvers project is completed; walls are dry allowing wall restoration to be completed and the dark color will be coordinated on the exterior, windows, etc.

The project began successfully on May 1st and was approved for $1.720M; payments are at 60%. A Special viewing of empty church was held May 13th & 14th. Scaffold erection began on May 15th.Organ – most pipes were removed; clean & stored. Pews are being refinished and will be stored until needed. The Altar, ambo and baptismal font shipped for modifications. The stained glass windows (8 largest) have been removed will be releaded and repaired. All stain glass windows will get new exterior protection – spacing will be vented to the inside. Existing floor is in good condition and will become subfloor – level out and add new floor on top. Walls are being washed – showing 40 years. Committee is testing color palette; Sacristies have been repaired and painted. Restaining woodwork has begun. New lighting system install will begin in a few weeks. Plan is to be in church for Christmas

Next scheduled Parish Assembly meeting is to be May 15th, 2017 at the Parish Center.

Angela made a motion to close the meeting and Suzanne seconded the motion.
