Tuesday, Jan. 7: Christmas Break is Over! School resumes

GENEROUS PEOPLE NEEDED THIS CHRISTMAS: If y our family, or organization, or church would like to help out a family this holiday season (through offering to adopting a family for Christmas), please call Kathy Frazier (784-2311 ext. 103), our school counselor, and have the following information handy:

1) Name of your family, organization, or church wanting to help and contact information

2) If you’d like to adopt one or more families for Christmas, and how many

3) If you’d like to donate some gift cards to help needy families this holiday

4) If you'd like to help in a way not already mentioned

Pies: Now, we have to select the teacher or teachers who get the pies in their face. We will vote for it. Any student or staff member who s old pies received one vote for each pie sold. They vote for the teacher they would like to see get hit by pies. The top 2-3 vote getters will suffer the humiliation of having pies thrown in their face.

Top Pie Sellers get $25 gift card and get to throw pies and get the most votes

Anyone who sold over 20 pies qualified - here they are:

Christina Fleck was biggest seller with 41.

Kaigen Henry--36

Shayne Monroe 36

Michael Good-33

Jake Martin-23

Kassi Watts-21

The winning class throws pies at the teachers and that class is: Mr. Downs Mr. Downs’ class sold 95 pies; they were 35 pies ahead of the #2 class.

We are going to start spending the money by purchasing new uniforms for the 5th and 6th grade girls’ basketball teams. We also could probably use some new basketballs, too.

LaVille Band News

Holiday Band Concert:

All LaVille Band students in grades 5-12 will be performing the Holiday Band Concert on Monday, December 9, 2013 at 7:00 pm in the High School Gym! Elementary Band students will meet in the High School Cafeteria at 6:00pm with instruments (including reeds, ligatures, etc.) and music. All students should dress nicely, and they may wear holiday colors. If a young lady decides to wear a dress or skirt, please make sure that it is an appropriate length and school appropriate. Additionally, the Band Boosters have asked each family to bring a dozen cookies and deliver them to the cafeteria before the performance. The refreshments (cookies and punch), will be served in the cafeteria following the performance. We hope that you will join us in supporting our awesome LaVille Band students!

All students are expected to be in attendance because every student plays an important role in our groups. This date and time was first sent to parents in the Class Syllabus that all students should have taken home in August, and an additional letter was sent home with students approximately 2 weeks ago as a reminder. Please contact Mr. Sudduth if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing you at the LaVille Band Holiday Concert on Monday!

South Bend Chocolate Company Fundraiser:

The LaVille Band students have been selling delicious South Bend Chocolate Company Chocolate, and all orders and

money was turned in this past week. Saturday, December 14, we are asking all parents to please come pick up the orders between 11am and 2:00 pm. If you would like to come to the High School Band Room at 9:00 am and fill your own order that will be fine, too! We do not want students carrying large orders home on the bus, so it will be best for the students if these orders are picked up on Saturday morning/afternoon. All items should be delivered before Christmas! Many people are counting on these as gifts and holiday treats for their family. Please make sure all items are delivered quickly. Please contact Mr. Sudduth if you have any questions.

4th Grade Class at Baugo Creek: This week Mrs. Downs’ 4th grade class spent the day at Baugo Creek learning about life and school in the 1800’s (when I was a boy). All three 4th grade classes attend the field trip, but one class at a time, so the kids get hands on instruction.

Girls’ Basketball Starts After Christmas Break: Any girl who wants to play 5th & 6th basketball after Christmas needs to get a physical, if they do not already have one turned in from volleyball or cheerleading.

6th Grade Boys’ Basketball Tourney is Tomorrow, Saturday, December 7: Tomorrow is our last games for our 6th graders at LaVille Elementary.

Our coaches, Mr. Tim Davis & Mr. Zak Tyler have our teams ready - Our Tourney includes 6th grade teams from Bremen, North Liberty, Walkerton and LaVille. The tourney is a chance to get revenge for losses we suffered during the season. Many times the teams who win the tourney are the teams that played the best on Saturday, not during the season. So, throw the won/loss records out the window – let’s play basketball. Here is our Roster for Saturday:
