Title: Nutrition Assistant VolunteerLocation: Northern GeneralHospital
The Nutrition Assistant role requires a person with a keen interest in nursing or health care. You will contribute to the encouragement of good nutrition and hydration and help to maintain the patient’s health and wellbeing.
As a volunteer you will help to prepare patients for their meals and assist in serving the meals. Have conversations with patients making the mealtime a sociable occasion. After training the volunteer can assist in helping to feed patients if required.
We are looking for people who are reliable, have the ability to use their own initiative, friendly manner, patient, caring, good communication skills, outgoing and confident.
You will be able to join an established team of staff and have the opportunity to obtain an understanding of the work of the many allied health professionals within the area.
The volunteer role is available Monday to Friday and at weekends. Times are 11am – 2pm or 4pm -7pm, but this will depend on the requirements of the ward.
Title: Hospital Welcomer

Hospital Welcomers provide a friendly and courteous greeting to patients and visitors to the hospital site, to help them overcome feelings of anxiety or confusion within an unfamiliar environment.
- The volunteer helps to direct or escort patients and visitors to wards and departments.
- Help with meeting patients for appointments.
- Run errands for staff and assist with the receipt of returned equipment and ensure that they are returned to the appropriate department.
Title: League of Friends Charity Coffee Shop Volunteer
Location: Northern GeneralHospital
The League of Friends Charity is a fundraising group dedicated to providing additional services, facilities and equipment to patients, visitors and staff.
The charity is looking for volunteers to help in the Huntsman Building Coffee Shop at the NorthernGeneralHospital. The role involves setting up for opening in the morning, taking deliveries, serving customers, cashing up at the end of a shift, moving and maintaining stock, provide cover in the absence of other volunteers and general cleaning and tidying of the stock room and coffee shop.
This Coffee Shop volunteer role is available Monday 12 – 3pm or 3pm – 6.30pm, Tuesday 3pm – 6.30pm, Wednesday 8am – 12 noon, Thursday 12 noon – 3pm, Friday 12 – 3pm or 3pm – 6.30pm, Saturday 12 noon – 3pm.

Patient Feedback Volunteer
The Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust collects on-the-spot feedback from patients using hand held digital devices and paper based questionnaires. Volunteers are required to help in assisting with capturing patient’s views whilst on wards and clinics within the hospitals. The feedback received is used to help improve services and patient care.
The volunteer role is available Monday to Friday between the hours of 9am and 12 noon or 2pm and 5pm.
Smoking Cessation Champion
This new role requires enthusiastic volunteers to offer support and promotion of stopping smoking to patients and their families within Inpatient wards and outpatient clinics throughout the Trust
Previous experience of stopping smoking would be desirable.

League of Friends Charity Coffee Shop Volunteer
The League of Friends Charity is a fundraising group dedicated to providing additional services, facilities and equipment to patients, visitors and staff.
The charity is looking for volunteers to help in the Huntsman Building Coffee Shop at the NorthernGeneralHospital. This Coffee Shop volunteer role is available Monday to Saturday with various times from 8am to 6pm. Further details will be available in December.

The role involves helping to direct or escort patients and visitors to wards and departments, meeting with meeting patients for appointments, running errands for staff and assisting with the receipt of returned equipment and ensuring that they are returned to the appropriate department.
This role is only available Monday to Friday between the hours of 8am and 6.30pm for a minimum of 3 hours per week.
PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU ONLY APPLY FOR THE VOLUNTEER ROLE IN THE MONTH THAT YOU ARE INTERESTED IN AS IF YOU ARE UNSUCCESSFUL YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO REAPPLY FOR 6 MONTHS.
