Expressions of interest are invited from employees interested in relieving in the position of Aboriginal StudentLiaison Officer,Macquarie ParkOperational Directorate,for the remainder of term four 2016, with a possibility of extension.

An expression of interest addressing the criteria, of no more than twopages in length should be submitted to Robyn Dundas, Learning and Wellbeing Advisor 4pmFriday 28thOctober2016.

Statement of duties:

  • Visiting schools to monitor attendance and liaising with principals on non- attendance issues, with a particular focus on Aboriginal students.
  • Providing support to parents about attendance problems of Aboriginal students.
  • Liaising with Agencies and organisations which are relevant to communities, families and students.

Selection criteria:

  • Aboriginality.
  • Understanding of issues affecting the regular school attendance of Aboriginal students.
  • Knowledge of Home School Liaison program and demonstrated involvement in student welfare programs
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise with schools, students, parents and outside agencies.
  • Effective written and oral communication and liaison skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal education policies.

Expressions of interest must be endorsed by the applicant’s current supervisor,who will be a referee, as well as the name and contact details of a second referee. Details should be recorded on the cover page below.
