Partnerships: Parent Teacher Council (PTC)

The PTC masterminded another hugely successful set of Hallowe’en Parties last week. The children were unrecognisable in their costumes and had certainly dressed for the occasion. Well done everyone!

Parent Teacher Consultation Meetings

All parents/carers will have been issued with an appointment to meet their child’s Class Teacher next week. As always, the number of parents most classes are meeting with dictates time limitations on each appointment. Consequently, if you have a particular aspect of your child’s progress you would like to discuss, please contact the Class Teacher (by letter or by contacting the School Office) and we will arrange a meeting on a different day.

Free Meals

Please note from Monday 20/10/14, Free School Meals approved for Session 2013/14 have ended.

Parents should re-apply for Session 2014/15 if they have not already done so.

Achievements

Our pupils continue to excel in a range of important life skills and achievements. This month we celebrate Mikael and John in P3 who raised £98 and £50 respectively for Yorkhill’s Children’s Charity by taking part in the Fun Run/Walk. Terrific work boys – well done!

Cameron in P6 came in the top 6 for his grade in a gymnastics competition last month. This success earns him a place in the Scottish team for the national level of the competition this month in Birmingham. Well done Cameron and good luck for this month’s event.

Some pupils in P1 – P3 took part in Morrisons Hallowe’en Colouring Competition.

Riccardo, P3d won 1st Prize of a Hallowe’en Hamper. Finn, P2k and Eva, P1j also won prizes. The children’s work will be on display in Morrisons, Crossmyloof.

Poppy Scotland Appeal

We will once again support this charity by selling poppies in school until 11 November – minimum donation 10p.

To commemorate the centenary of WWI, the whole school is taking part in artwork for the central hall. We aim to create a display of our own poppy field. Mrs Kelly, Pupil Support Assistant, is using her skills as an artist, to help us with this.

Which inter-disciplinary study topics we’re working on this term:

The ‘study topic’ approach is designed to help children see the links within and across curriculum areas, and presented in a topic which aims to engage their interest and motivation.

In addition to the Inter-disciplinary Learning (IDL) Study Topic, all classes will also have discrete lessons in Literacy, Numeracy, Health & Well-being, ICT, the Expressive Arts and Religious & Moral Education.
