Donating to United Way

By working through the United Way of Tompkins County, Dairy One employees can make donations tothe United Waychapter of their choice.Donating to local charities through United Way provides several advantages over traditional giving:

1)It provides you the ease of donating via payroll deduction.

2)Local charities working with United Way need to demonstrate that donated funds are used effectively. This means funds go to groups that make the most impact with your donation.

3)United Way can add your funds to the total amount of funds collected for your area. Having a larger total amount can make your local United Way more competitive in applying for grants to support local charities.

4)United Way of Tompkins County provides 100% of your gift to your United Way.

How to donate to your local United Way:

1)Identify the United Way chapter of your choice.

In your packet, you will find a list of all United Ways in your state. Please identify the one that you wish to support. If you’d like to search by zip code, visit online at where you will find a link to United Way’s search application. Enter your zip code in the top right corner of the web page. This will provide information for the United Way closest to you.

2)Unless you specifically designateotherwise, your donation will go to yourUnited Way’s general fund to support local charities involved in health, education, and income.

3)Sometimes, people would like their donationto go to a specific organization that partners with United Way (for example, a local food bank). Visit the webpage for your chosen United Way chapter to find out which specific charities are supported in your area.

4)There are times when someone may not want their funds to go to a specific organization that partners with United Way. This is also possible.

5)If you’d like your donation to go to an organization that does not partner with the United Way, we recommend that you continue to give directly to that organization.
