All sessions are detailed below according to color. Note that where registration links are listed as To Be Announced (TBA) the links will be posted to the Safe and Supportive Schools Grant webpage when available, and this calendar will be updated as more opportunities arise.

In the case of inclement weather:Department policy is that if school is closed in the district in which the training is being held, the training will be canceled and in most cases rescheduled.Whenever possible, decisions regarding cancellations due to weather will be made the day before withregistered participants notified via email.

Professional Development Points: Participants participating in the webinars, statewide convening, and spring regional networking events can request to receive 10 professional development points by completing a project/product related to SEL, trauma sensitive practices, and/or positive behavioral management in a Pre-K to 12 setting. This assignment can be completed individually or collaboratively. To register your intended project, use this link.

Additional Professional Development Opportunities:

Promoting Resilience and Healthy Outcomes for LGBTQ Students by theSafe Schools Program for LGBTQ Youth

The Safe Schools Program offers a workshop and technical assistance schools and districts could register for using the link below.Thefree workshop will highlight the policies and best practices for supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning (LGBTQ) students, with a focus on transgender students and their families. It will provide a context for understanding gender identity and expression, and feature the experiences of students, parents and school personnel who have successfully navigated this terrain. Participants will learn effective strategies and best practices to increase awareness, prevent bullying and harassment, foster resilience and promote a healthy and safe learning environment for all students.

By the end of this workshop, participants will:

  • be able to articulate and use correct LGBTQ terms and definitions
  • Better understand the experiences of transgender students and families
  • be more knowledgeable about policies, practices and resources that support LGBTQ students and families
  • be aware of the research on the factors that promote resilience and positive outcomes for LGBTQ Students
  • increase their comfort and confidence in talking about gender identity, expression, sexual orientation and school climate, and in supporting LGBTQ students and their families

Urban Leaders Network for School Climate and Student Support (ULN)

The ULN is a state network (similar to the Urban Superintendents Network) facilitated by ESE where district, school leaders, and ESE staff put the spotlight on school climate, social emotional learning, and student support.The network meets five times per year, with one summer retreat.New members always welcome! for more information.
