The Queen’s University of Belfast and The University of Liverpool announce an international conference on Concrete Platform2007 to honour the distinguished careers of two leading UK concrete researchers, Professor Adrian Long from Queen’s University Belfast and Professor John Bungey from the University of Liverpool. Together they have contributed nearly 75 years to the concrete industry and academia, promoting concrete as a construction material, but more importantly by developing novel and innovative approaches to solving many problems faced by the concrete industry.
The conference will provide an opportunity to revisit some of the issues that they have been associated with throughout their careers, but one aim will be to establish a strategy by which concrete can continue to excel as a construction material throughout the world. Progress towards this goal will be furthered by discussing topics on advanced concrete technology, novel structural systems and innovative testing and monitoring methods so as to extend the service life.
