APPOINTMENT OF AN ELECTRICAL INSTALLATIONS SUPERVISOR
24. Acontractormust,inadditiontocompliancewiththeElectricalInstallationRegulations, 2009,andtheElectricalMachineryRegulations,1988,promulgatedbyGovernmentNoticeNo. 1593of12August1988,ensurethat-
(a)beforeconstructioncommencesandduringtheprogressthereof,adequatesteps aretakentoascertainthepresenceofandguardagainstdangertoworkersfrom anyelectrical cableorapparatuswhichisunder,overoronthesite;
(b)allpartsofelectricalinstallationsandmachineryareof adequatestrengthto withstandtheworkingconditionsonconstructionsites;
(c)thecontrolofalltemporaryelectricalinstallationsonthe construction site is designatedtoacompetentpersonwhohasbeenappointedinwritingforthat purpose;
(d)alltemporaryelectricalinstallationsusedbythecontractorareinspectedatleastonceaweekbyacompetentpersonandtheinspectionfindingsarerecordedinaregisterkeptontheconstructionsite;and
(e)allelectricalmachineryisinspectedbytheauthorizedoperatororuseronadailybasis using a relevant checklist priorto use and the inspection findings arerecordedinaregisterkeptontheconstructionsite.

•The appointee are further charged with ensuring that all contractors on site comply with any measures instituted to ensure safe use of Electrical Installations and Equipment including Portable Electrical Tools and Appliances, and
•Are reminded that he/she is required to be conversant with all relevant statutory provisions and regulations of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 in the regard to carrying out of construction work.
