RESPONSIBILITIES OF EDUCATIONAL EVALUATORS

AND SCHOOL CONTACT PERSONS

Educational Evaluators

1. Processes all initial special education referrals from the beginning through the initial placement

meeting, acting as chairperson. This includes writing the IEP and the eligibility report. The primary special education teacher will administer the Brigance and lead in the development of the goals and objectives.

2. Processes all transfers from the temporary placement IEP meeting through the initial placement meeting, acting as chairperson. This includes complying with the transfer directive from central office as documented on Transfers form and writing the IEP. The primary special education teacher will administer the Brigance and lead in the development of the goals and objectives. If the educational evaluator is not present in the building on the day the student enrolls, another special education teacher will be responsible for conducting the temporary IEP meeting and completing any necessary paperwork.

3. Maintains a database of reevaluation due dates through information received from primary teachers.

4. Attends all reevaluation determination meetings. Psychologist must be invited to all reevaluation meetings and may serve as an alternate for the educational evaluator.

5. Completes all educational assessments for initial referrals, transfers, and reevaluations. This includes the scoring and charting of behavior checklist data. (For reevaluations, the primary special education teacher will complete the eligibility report.)

6. Maintains a testing log to be turned in to the central office monthly.

7. Serves as a mentor and resource for other special education teachers in matters of due process paperwork. Will randomly check files for due process compliance.

8. Maintains a folder caseload of all students served exclusively on consultative model.

9. Provides consultative services.

10. Conducts Functional Behavioral Assessments and develops Behavior Intervention Plans, as appropriate, when required for an IDEA student for disciplinary purposes.

11. Serves as an ad hoc SST committee member. Educational Evaluator or Psychologist must be present when a referral to IDEA is being considered to be sure that all prerequisites have been met. Cannot be responsible for SST screening testing or SST Functional Behavioral Assessments.

12. Attends training sessions and due process committee meetings when scheduled.

13. Conducts monthly mandatory team meetings at each assigned school to relay information from Central Office. Will submit agendas and sign-in sheets for every meeting to central office monthly.

14. Facilitates FTE and student data information being correctly entered into database.

***If Educational Evaluators become over burdened with transfers, they should assign transfer duties out to special education teachers as needed and contact central office.

School Contact Person

1. Serves as a liaison between local school and central office, as needed.

2. Performs other duties as designated by principal or Director/Coordinator of Special Education.
