APPROVAL OF MINUTES & REVIEW CORRESPONDANCE:

President Thompson made a motion to approve the minutes from February 4, 2015 with changes to business item 5. Home Based Business Expo. Director Rice seconded the motion. All other board members in favor, motion passed and minutes approved with changes.

BUSINESS:

1.  Home Based Business Expo

a.  How many businesses had booths? 20

b.  What was the cost for this event? The event cost right around $1,000.00

c.  What was the income? We waved some of the booth space fees, but our income was right around $160.00-$180.0.

d.  What was the attendance? 98-100

e.  What was the feedback from board members and event goers? There was a lot going on last weekend, with the Fortuna Strong and the Safe and Sober fundraisers. It was a beautiful day to do spring cleaning and yard work.

f.  Do we want to do this event again? Rios will bring “Thank you” cards to the next meeting for the board to sign and we will send them to the businesses that participated this year. The board would like to send a letter and application out in October to start the buzz on the event early. The letter should indicate that we would like 40 booths for 2016 and we will not be able to do the event with less than 20. Early committee will be a way to ensure the event will happen for 2016. The board would also like to see the City, Chamber, SBDC and any other support systems out there for home based businesses to come and have a booth at the event.

2.  FBID Budget 2015-2016

a.  Review

b.  Make changes Yes: Telephone, New Event funding, Internet marketing, Interest expense, Kids Movies we all adjusted.

Rios will contact the Core areas to have them get their Core Area Discretionary funding application in and Rios will get the checks cut once we get our first check from the City in 2015-2016.

3.  Across the Street Banners

Daffodil Days, Art and Wine in the Park, Fortuna Rodeo, Fortuna Auto Xpo, Hops in Humboldt, Aviation day, Apple Harvest

Last time the street banner wire needed to be replaced/repaired FBID went to Hansen’s Wire shop and fixed it. What would FBID like to do now that there is no wire and there is no longer a building to attach it to?

Rios will work with the City of Fortuna to find out what gage wire the City will require to get a new line up to hang the banners. The contact at City hall will be Mike Johnson from Public Works. Once we know what the requirements are Rios will get that to President Thompson and she will work on finding a new wire. Rios will also speak with property owner on Main Street to get permission to attach the wires to their buildings. Once we find two locations that are willing, Rios will work with the building department and the city engineer to see if it will work.
