You will have the opportunity to defend up to two concept categories from the second semester to show mastery of the concepts. The new score will replace the original concept category score, regardless of whether your score goes up or down.

IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS:

STEP 1: Complete this form and return it to your teacher BY THURSDAY, MAY 18th and create a plan for practice.

STEP 2: PRATICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!!

All students wishing to defend a concept category must show evidence of practice. Here are some examples of evidence:

1)  Redo Goal Problems and Quick Checks related to the concept category you are defending. This is the BEST way to prepare! Be sure to check your answers with answer keys.

2)  Online practice: ixl.com, buzzmath.com, math-drills.com, khanacademy.org, etc. (print out a page for evidence)

3)  Complete practice handouts found on Mrs. Borcherding’s website

4)  Redo homework assignments related to the concept category you are defending

5)  Come to tutoring (after school on Mondays) and/or PAWs with Mrs. Borcherding

STEP 3: Bring your evidence of practice on the defense day and complete the defense.
