CARLSBADHIGH SCHOOL HOMECOMING FLOAT REGISTRATION

“Now Showing: HoCo 2016”

The Homecoming Parade this year will be on September9th. The theme is Now Showing: HoCo 2016 so we encourage you to decorate your float with a movie theme. Thank you so much for participating this year. Please read through this information and return or email your registration forms to Ms. Morrill, by August 25th, to give a total participant number to the Police Department.

We will begin leaving the CHS parking lot at the high school and proceed to the beach. We will put in floats all the way to St. Edward’s School where the parade actually begins. Little Cavemen football teams and cheerleaders will meet at the Nazarene Church. The bands will meet at St. Edward’s School, at the corner of Walter and Church, along with community participants. The school floats, if small enough to fit through the entrance gates of the student parking lot, can gather there. If your CHS trailer is too large to fit through the gates, please contact Ms. Morrill for a location. The parade will officially begin at 4:15 at St. Edward’s School. You must be lined up and ready to go by 4:00 pm. There will be someone at each line-up location to place you in the parade.

ALL DRIVERS MUST BE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OF AGE. THERE MUST BE AN ADULT ON EVERY FLOAT CARRYING STUDENTS. NO ONE MAY WALK. EVERYONE MUST RIDE AT ALL TIMES. The parade is very long and walking will prolong the time we obstruct traffic. It is also a safety measure that we all ride.

Please try NOT to leave large gaps between vehicles. Invariably, we have people who try to race across an intersection between floats if there is a gap, which endangers our parade. Thank you for participating and I look forward to having fun at the parade.

The registration form below MUST be turned in by Thursday, August 25th. When you turn in your registration form you may pick up a number from room 427 in the ScienceBuilding. Failure to turn in your registration on time may result in your group’s inability to participate in the parade.

  1. The float’s number must be displayed on the driver’s side at all times. (It should be handed to a Student Council Official at the judging station) Only CHS floats will be judged for prizes by Student Council.
  2. For safety reasons, everyone on the float must stay on it.
  3. The City of Carlsbad prohibits the tossing of candy or any other items. Children have run out to pick up stray pieces and have gotten hurt. DO NOT promote the tossing out of candy. If anyone on your float is seen doing so by a parade official, they will not only be disqualified from the judging, but they will also not be allowed to participate in the following year.
  4. Know that the judges will be sitting in front of PR Leyva School. Save your best cheers, waving, and smiles for them.
