MONROE COUNTY FIRE/EMS COMMUNICATIONS BOARD

MINUTES OF MEETING: September 19, 2013 19:04 HRS.

The meeting was called to order by T. Warth 5:00 PM.

A quorum of voting members were present.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

June meeting minutes were approved by J. Merklinger, seconded by J. Coates. All were in favor and motion was carried.

COMMUNICATIONS/REPORT - T. Warth

EXISTING SYSTEM STATUS/NARROWBAND – T. Warth

FUTURE TRUNKING SYSTEM COMMITTEES – R. Verdouw

·  The County is working with Harris to locate a site in the downtown area.

·  Additional site will bring the system to 18 transmit sites.

·  Currently working with the Airport to move the field maintenance equipment over to the trunk system.

·  Coverage testing by the Fire and EMS agencies has concluded, except for RFD to test downtown (within the inner-loop) once the 18th site is online.

·  Testing results will be discussed at the Sept (9/23) Trunking Sub-Committee meeting and then distributed to the various members, agencies and organizations.

DIGITAL PAGING/TRUNK SYSTEM – R. Verdouw

·  Each Department should be receiving mass emails regarding paging information sent by CRS.

·  These mass emails are sent to the paging contact from each department.

·  If a department is not receiving these emails, they should contact CRS.

·  All M1503 pagers have been sold. The first 1000 piece production run is gone, agencies are encouraged to get together and place mass orders to secure better pricing.

·  The current firmware version is V1.2 build 534.

·  Radio Center has been approved to install a paging transmitter at Gates Co #1.

·  The County is currently 1/3 M1503’s.

·  Build 534 has the ability to accept or deny updates.

·  Build 534 also fixes the issue that caused users to reset their pagers.

·  CRS will be in town the week of October 14th and will attend the Oct. meeting.

ECD DIRECTOR’S REPORT – J. Merklinger

·  Next update scheduled for October 8th 0500-0600 hrs.

·  Back-up 9-1-1 building is nearing completion. Should be fully functional by Fall 2014.

·  14 new hires.

·  5 Retirements.

EMS REPORT – T. Czapranski

·  Hospitals are meeting regarding trunk system.

·  Spec Ops 2nd Class 9/24.

·  HazMat IQ classes October 22-23, 2013

FIRE BUREAU REPORT – S. DeRosa

FIRE ADVISORY REPORT - J. Lemcke

PUBLIC SAFETY DIRECTOR – D. Moore

·  MRC – County Executive toured the building today. 6-7 weeks for official opening.

·  Monitoring Water Authority (alarms/security/etc). Would like to bring in additional clients.

NEW BUSINESS – T. Warth

·  State Interoperability meeting – suggesting IP addressing for Trunk Systems.

·  Per J. Merklinger Barnard is shipping their dispatch to 9-1-1 the first of the year.

OLD BUSINESS

·  175 still on the table. Per R. Verdouw recent quote from Skyway is $700,000.
